B O N N I E
A few hours later, Olivia and I are sitting in the backseat of Scott's car on our way to the party, looking at the window. My mind was in another place.
Why did I think this was a good idea?
The last time I was at a party around Josh, I kissed him. I really don't think I need any more embarrassment after that night.
"Remind me again why you both had to sit in the back seat?" Scott questions, glancing back at us in the rear-view mirror with a quizzical look on his face.
"I explained this to you already; you are our chauffeur for the night since you didn't want to come party with us." Olivia retorts, adding an extra roll with her tongue to the word chauffeur. Scott lets out a single chuckle before turning back to face the road ahead.
I poke my head through to the front to where Scott was. "Thank you for driving us." I whisper to him, knowing Olivia will never thank him for it. She expects Scott to drop whatever he is doing for us all the time.
"I'm sure there are other things you'd rather be doing," I say again, looking over to see a smile spread across Scott's face.
"There's nowhere I'd rather be than with you two idiots." Olivia smacks the back of Scott's chair. "Hey! not nice," Scott and I burst out into laughter, the mood in the car slowly becoming lighter.
"Plus, I don't want to spend my night watching Olivia and that douchebag sucking face." Again, she smacks his chair. "What is your problem tonight?" she angrily questions. Scott rolls his eyes in response.
Sitting back in my seat, I ignore Scott and Olivia and their awkward tension and stare out the car window, watching the houses flash by as we drive. My mind can't help but go to memories of Josh, and I hate it.
The last thing I want to do is spend my time thinking about him. I want to hate him so badly, but my stupid heart doesn't want to. My mind knows better than my heart.
Without realizing the car had come to a stop, I feel a tap on my shoulder, "earth to Bonnie!" I snap back, looking at Olivia, who has a massive smirk on her face, "thinking of lover boy, are we?" she winks, before crawling out of the car.
Lover boy. Gross.
I don't think so!
I don't bother correcting her. What's the point? Olivia will think what Olivia wants to, and no one can change that. She reaches out, pulling my hand into hers as we make our way inside.
Outside, there are people scattered everywhere, some dancing, some making out, others fighting. It's like a scene from every college party in any movie you've ever seen. Every girl is gorgeous, and the guys are all hot. I feel so out of place here, especially wearing this outfit.
I reach up with my free hand, patting down my hair, begging it to stay in place and take a deep breath as Olivia pushes her way through the entry and into the belly of the beast. I am hit with wind surging from the huge speakers at the bottom of the staircase as soon as you enter the house.
My mind trying to take everything in as I look around, trying to find at least one familiar face in the crowd of strangers, but I knew I wouldn't see any.
Until I saw him. Standing up against the back wall of the lounge room, a cigarette in one hand and a girl wrapped into his side, she is clawing at his chest, whispering into his ear much to his pleasure by the look on his face.
I gulp, needing to take my eyes away from him and find another distraction. Olivia is still pulling me along with her until we halt, and I hear that familiar growl, Axel.
