ALEXI
I stared in fascination at the dark grey clouds moving in the sky. The light blue was almost completely covered by darkness. All around me was silence, no animal could be heard, it's like they now there was a storm coming. Sucking in a deep breath of fresh air I slowly sank down onto my back. Above me the trees loomed, a slight parting where I could still watch the sky.
It was probably stupid of me to leave the house alone, but I needed air. Staying cooped up inside the house would've drove me mad, especially after what they told me. For two days I've been avoiding them. Both of them had tried to talk to me. I know they're hurting, I could see that everytime my eyes caught theirs. But they need to understand, this was a new world to me.
Thunder crackled through the sky making my eyes snap open. I had drifted off. Darkness surrounded me causing panic to fill me. Standing I turned searching for the way I came. My mind was a jumbled mess making it harder for me to remember. I knew I shouldn't be panicking, that I need to calm down in order to find my way back to the house. The best option would be to stay right where I am. If I start walking in the direction I think I came from I might walk deeper into the forest.
What was I thinking?
Thunder filled my ears followed by the flash of lightening. Sucking in a shaky breath I closed my eyes trying to clear my mind.
A twig snapped to my right. Another to my left.
Then something appeared from the dark trees. It looked human. Tall, broad shouldered and very muscled. But it wasn't. I could see the outline of large horns on it's head. Long fingers nails and large feet. A tail whipped behind it as it came to a stop a few feet in front of me.
Glowing golden eyes stared at me with curiosity. A sound fell from it's mouth and a few seconds later two more creatures appeared. Dogs stop next to him, not entirely dogs. They had no fur, just angry red skin and red eyes with sharp teeth. Their bodies were also lean and muscled.
"Do not move."
My body jerked in fright as a man spoke from behind me. I could feel his body heat seeping into my back. His smell of cinnamon and apple's entering my nostrils. Who is he?
"I have come for the girl," the creature in front of me spoke.
His words were slightly slurred but his voice was clear, echoing around us.
"No," the man behind me spoke before I could. "This is the wrong girl."
"She fits the description."
"But she is not the girl you are looking for. This girl is human."
"Humans can be condemned to an eternity in hell," the creature said his eyes locking with mine.
My heartbeat increased, the hair at the back of my neck rising as fear washed through me.
"I'll see you in hell someday Alexi," he turned walking back towards the trees. "Nice seeing you again Prince Erik."
A hand was placed on my arm as a strong arm wrapped around my waist. My body was pressed against a tall hard body, minty breath fanning my cheek.
"I'm going to count to three, then you and I are going to jump."
What?
"W-who are you?" I stuttered, gripping the arm to try and pull it from my waist.
"Someone that wants to help you," the man spoke. "Or would you rather want to be chased by hellhounds."
My eyes moved to the dog-like creatures slowly inching forward. Hellhounds.
"On three."
Nodding I bend my knees slightly as he did. The arm around my waist tightened.
"One. Two. Three."
As the last word left his mouth we were suddenly airborne. I squeezed my eyes shut as the air around us changed. It lasted only for a few seconds before my feet was placed on something solid.
"Stay still, we are on a tree branch," the man said softly, moving to stand next to me but still keeping an arm around my waist.
I slowly opened my eyes staring down at the ground far beneath me. There was no sign of the hellhounds. I turned my head to look at the man.
Shocked washed through me as my eyes locked with glowing blue eyes. The man looked away again, down at the ground. I followed his gaze, my heartbeat increasing as I saw the hellhounds. They're looking straight at us.
"Is this the first time you've seen a hellhound?"
I nod mutely.
"That's good," he muttered, softly. "They will disappear in a few minutes."
Again I nodded mutely. I had no words to describe what just happened. In the span of a few weeks my life had been completely turned upside down. I've met two guys, a werewolf and a hybrid. I've been attacked twice and now I saw two hellhounds and some weird as creature, or was it a man?
"Hades."
My head snapped to up and to the side, "What?"
"That man," he nodded down. "His name is Hades."
Greek God of the Underworld.
Sucking in a shaky breath I looked down again to find the space beneath us empty. They were gone. Without warning the man stepped from the branch pulling me with him. A scream fell from my lips as I squeezed my eyes shut.
"Sorry," the man chuckled, "I should have warned you."
A loud howl suddenly filled the air making my chest tighten. I've heard it before. A memory flashed through my mind but it was soon forgotten. Why does he sound so sad?
"Come on, your mates are looking for you."
I had no choice but to follow the stranger that had saved me. He led the way through the darkened forest. A few minutes, maybe hours later, the trees cleared and we stepped into a wide space. What did he mean by mates?
The large house loomed above us. Various men stood outside waiting. With wide eyes I watched as Slade stepped forward in his wolf form. Fury stood next to him with his eyes completely black. His eyes locked with mine making me take a small step back.
Oh boy. They're furious!
