ALEXI
I couldn't leave.
The realization made dread fill me. I had no home, no belongings and definitely no car to travel. Even if I could manage to find a car, I had no way of accessing money from my bank. All my important documents had been burned in that fire. Everything had been burned. I can't stay here with them. I wanted to leave badly but this small part inside me urged me to stay. I turned onto my back pulling the sheets up to my chin. The lamp beside my bed burned brightly, I couldn't bring myself to switch it off. My eyes started to droop but before I could doze off, a hand clamped down on my mouth making my body jerk and eyes snap open again. Erik hovered above me, his dark eyes narrowed. I reached up gripping his wrist trying to move his hand from my mouth. He didn't move, instead the weight of his body came down on top of mine.
"Stop panicking, I'm not going to hurt. Not yet anyway," he muttered, slowly moving his hand from my mouth. "You're going to shut up and listen to me or I will fucking hurt you. Understand?"
I nodded, gripping the sheets tightly. His lips pulled up into a smirk and for a few seconds he only watched me. I didn't fail to notice the tips of his fangs visible from between his lips. A shiver of fear raced down my spine.
"What you saw in that room isn't what you think," he said. "Fury wasn't having sex with her, he was feeding."
My mouth opened, ready to tell him how wrong he was but he pulled his upper lips back letting out a snarl.
"Don't interrupt me girl. This is why I hate fucking humans, you're weak and pathetic. You jump to conclusions without knowing anything." Erik leaned closer. "Keep your mouth shut and listen, you won't like what I would do to you if you don't."
My body started to shake as he spoke. I've never felt so scared with someone as I did with him. His cold personality left me shivering, it felt like ice entering my veins. How does his wife live with someone like him? Does he intimidate her like he does me?
"What goes on between my wife and me, has nothing to do with you Alexi." His voice was icy. "Fury needs to feed. He can't just survive with solid foods, he needs blood. What you walked in on was him feeding, like I told you earlier. Some vampire have the ability to make someone else feel pleasure without having to touch them and some don't. The closer the woman or man is to orgasm, the better the blood tastes. We use it to create pleasure instead of fear."
I frowned up at him. "They were both naked. He was on top of her, moving-"
"I know," Erik frowned. "You need to talk to him about it yourself. I only came here to tell you what really happened. The twins has been without their mate for centuries. I can understand why you act the way you do, but try to understand where they're coming from. They're starved Lexi, Slade is fighting his wolf not to jump you everytime you're near him. Fury has to fight the urge to mate you and keep himself from drinking your blood. Do not judge their actions before knowing why they're doing it. They need you and I swear that if you run from them, I'll search for you myself."
Giving me another glare, he slowly got up. I let out a breath the moment he closed the door behind him. Running a hand down my face, I sat up glancing around the room. My eyes fell on the window where I could see the sunlight shining through the curtains. I decided to take a quick shower before facing the twins.
* * * *
The kitchen was empty when I entered it. I bit my lip, walking towards the fridge. I knew for a fact that the twins were already up. They woke up early to start breakfast and then go on about business like usual. Pulling open the door I stared at the contents inside. My stomach protested at the sight of food, I won't be able to stomach anything, not until after I've talked to them.
A silver envelope on the island caught my attention. I picked it up, turning it around in my hands before finally pulling it open. Inside was a royal blue square card that glittered when the light caught it. Dropping the envelope back on the island, I opened the card to scan the words. I had to read it twice before the words settled in.
You are hereby invited to the coronation of Prince Slade and Prince Fury.
I sank down in the chair when my legs refused to keep me up. My eyes fell on the invitation again. Coronation. Prince. I'm fucking mated to royalty. I pressed my palm against my forehead suddenly feeling lightheaded. Shit.
"Lexi."
My head snapped up. Fury stood in the doorway watching me silently. He shifted from foot to foot his eyes dropping from mine. I could feel the tension radiating off him. I bit my lip waiting for him to say something. It seemed like an eternity before he spoke.
"I'm sorry, we didn't want to tell you about the coronation like this," he said softly, taking small steps into the kitchen. "We wanted to break things to you slowly be-"
"I'm sorry," I blurted, interrupting him. "I jumped to conclusions without hearing your side of the story. I didn't mean what I said. I was hurt and angry and I wanted to hurt you like you had hurt me. I'm really so-"
Cool lips pressed against mine instantly shutting me up. I moaned. Fury broke the kiss, cupping my cheek with a shaky hand. His eyes trailed over my face then locked with mine.
"I should've told you about it but I didn't because I didn't want to worry you," he said, stroking my cheekbone with his thumb. "I need to feed princess, no matter how badly I wished I didn't have to."
"Why don't you feed from me?"
His hand dropped from my face. He looked angry all of a sudden, making me frown. Before he could move away from me, I wrapped my legs around his waist.
"Alexi." It came out as a low warning. I ignored him, wrapping my arms around his neck.
"Fury," I muttered back. Our eyes locked and for a moment I'm shocked to see so much pain flash through his eyes.
"I'm scared Lexi," he finally muttered. "We found you after years. I'm scared that if I show you the real me, the monster, that you'll leave us."
"I've seen Slade shift and I'm still here," I whispered, moving my hands to his cheeks. "Sure I don't really understand half the stuff, but I'm willing to learn. My grandmother always use to say that communication is the key to success. It sounds rich coming from me after last night, but I was so hurt. After the things you said and what you did, I walked into that. What else was I suppose to think?"
"Lexi, you are and will only ever be the only woman for me. For me and my brother. We will never do what humans do, when we mate it's for life. Nothing can tear us apart."
