ALEXI
I sat silently on the couch staring down at my hands. They shook slightly from the adrenaline still running through me. Would I be dead right now if it wasn't for the stranger? I risked a glance at them. My eyes locked with Fury's, he gave me a small smile but said nothing. Slowly, I turned my head to look at Slade. He sat behind the desk frowning down at some papers. Movement from the corner of my eyes snapped my attention towards the other man.
"This is our friend, Erik Bloodaxe." Fury finally broke the tense silence. "Erik, this is Alexi White."
"Nice to meet you," Erik said, he gave me a smirk. "Even if the circumstances isn't the best."
I frowned at him. It's the same man from the photos I saw on the wall in the hall. He looked much bigger in person, he was built the same way as the twins.
"What were you thinking?" Slade suddenly exploded.
My body jerked in fright. Swallowing, I slowly turned my head to look at him. He had stood from the chair leaning over the desk to glare at me.
"You were almost killed. Twice! Now you wonder off alone. What if something had happened? We wouldn't have been able to safe you, you could have died Alexi!"
"I'm sorry," I whispered, my eyes filling with tears.
"Sorry?" he walked around the desk, "you're fucking sorry? God, do you have any idea what-"
"Slade," Erik said, softly. He turned from the window giving Slade a pointed look. "We all know why she left the house."
A tear dropped down my cheek, I quickly wiped it away before anyone saw. Of course it didn't go unnoticed by Fury. He walked over to me taking a seat next to me on the couch. Without warning, he wrapped his arms around me then pulled me onto his lap.
"Shh princess," Fury whispered.
I clutched his shirt allowing the tears to drop. This was the first time in weeks that I've allowed the tears to fall. I couldn't hold it in anymore, I needed to let it out.
"I'm sorry baby," Slade said, reaching out to stroke my cheek. He wiped the tears away then leaned forward brushing his lips across my forehead.
After a few minutes my tears had dried leaving me feeling extremely tired. Fury stroked my hair making my eyes droop. What I would give for just a good night rest. To forget all I've learned and just fall into an endless sleep.
"We had a run-in with Hades," Erik said.
I felt Fury tense beneath me. His hand froze as he sucked in a deep breath. Slade growled.
"Did she-?" He broke off letting the sentence hang in the air.
"Yes."
Lifting my head from his chest, I looked up at him. His jaw was clenched and eyes squeezed shut. I glanced at Slade. He was breathing heavily, head hung low as he leaned forward. Erik walked over to us. He took a seat on the couch across from us.
"What's wrong?" I asked softly, glancing between them.
When neither brother made a move to answer my question, Erik sat forward.
"If you see a hellhound three times, you will die an abrupt and unseen death. You told me that this was the first time you've seen one."
I nod, frowning at him, "Doesn't that mean anything?"
"It still has the same outcome, you will die within the year."
His words left me completely speechless. Now I understood what the twins were feeling at the moment. I barely knew them but they had saved me, offered me a home when I had nowhere else to go. And now, now I knew why they did all that for me, but I still needed some answers regarding us.
"Will she be reborn again?" Slade asked. I glanced at him, our eyes briefly locking before he looked away again.
"I don't know," Erik murdered. "The last time she died we all thought it was it. She was reborn again and found by you as a baby. You had no pull towards her when she was found?"
"We did," Fury said, glancing at me. "We knew she was our mate the moment we laid eyes on her, that's why her grandmother send her away."
"Years later when she came to visit, we couldn't feel the pull anymore. We thought it was just a cruel joke being played on us. That's until she showed up here again." Slade stood walking over to the window.
I leaned against Fury again pressing my face against his neck. He wrapped both arms around my body hugging me tighter.
"There has to be an explanation for this," Erik said, softly. His eyes caught mine briefly before dropping to the floor.
Silence settled around the room again as we got lost in our own thoughts. Thunder suddenly sounded above us causing my body to jerk in fright. I still remembered the night I was attacked, it was raining then as it was now. A part of me knew that I'm safe here, while the other part feared the monster coming to get me again.
"Relax princess, nothing will happen to you," he whispered, in my ear.
"Alexi is fully human so she has no magic or any power..." He trailed off. "Witches."
"What?" Both brothers questioned.
Erik stood, taking the seat that Slade vacated. He reached out making me jerk back from him.
"I need a taste of her blood," he said, softly glancing at the twins.
They didn't get a chance to answer. In a blink of an eye Erik had reached out gripping my wrist. Seconds later I felt a prick on the tip of my finger. His lips closed around my finger, Erik sucked briefly before dropping my hand. I watched as his eyes darkened. Fury tensed again, his hold on me tightening.
"Relax," Erik said. He slowly stood from the couch walking towards the fireplace.
My eyes moved to Fury when he gently took hold of my wrist. I gasped as he licked the nick where the blood still pooled. Desire flashed through me.
"Fury."
He pulled his mouth away dropping my hand onto my lap. Heat filled my cheeks when he smirked at me. Does he know I want him?
"I think I might have a theory of why this keeps happening, but Roxy would be able to confirm it." He turned to face us. "The coronation is in two weeks, I'll meet you guys there."
