Chapter 6 // Right

Dani's POV

I woke up with a terrible headache. I rubbed my eyes and stretched in bed. I looked over to Evie's side of the room but didn't see her. Confused, I checked my phone to see what time it was.  14:42. I scrolled through to see what notifications I got. 

From: Collin 

Good morning :) 

After I texted him back, I got out of bed and took a shower. I needed to wash away the alcohol from this weekend. We all got super drunk this past weekend. Halloween parties back to back to back. I would of never went to a party on a Sunday night but fuck it right? I didn't even think about putting an alarm because I knew I would of just gone back to sleep. I decided to take a break today. I didn't go to class. I texted my classmate to send the notes when she could. I planned to catch up on studying and the notes I've missed. 

I needed to get out of my dorm so I decided to go to my study room. I was listening to music on the way. I turned down to look at my phone to change the song. As I was looking down, I bumped into someone. I took my earbuds out of my ears and immediately apologized to the person. "I'm so sorry." I went down and picked up their book. I handed them their book and looked up to see who it was. "Thanks." Luke said. He gave me a small smile. I smiled meekly back at him. "No problem." I replied and walked away. I put my earbuds back in my ears hoping that Luke continued walking away as well. Even though part of me wished he chased me down. Why would he chase me down if he moved on? I kinda moved on as well. I think. Whatever. 

I arrived at my study room, thankful that I didn't run into anybody else. I sat down in my usual seat and got to work. In the midst of working, my phone vibrated indicating a text message came. I looked to see who it was and smiled. 

From: Collin

How'd you sleep? :) How was your party last night? 

To: Collin 

Good, I knocked out once I got to my room. The party was okay, not a lot of people so more drinks I guess haha 

We continued to text which made me procrastinate my homework more.

After finally finishing my homework, I went back to my dorm. I heated up some mac and cheese in the microwave and decided to watch a movie. Before the movie even began, Evie walked in. "Hey did you know Luke is back?! I was just talking to him!" She exclaimed. I forced a smile and nodded my head. "I saw him at the football game in the first week of school." I replied. "Wanna watch a movie with me?" I asked, trying to change the subject. 

"What!! You saw him and didn't tell me anything?!" Evie sat up at the foot of my bed , completely ignoring my question. "Well what happened between you two? Did he hug you? Was he like 'Dani I finally get to see you! I've missed you! America sucked without you!" She exclaimed, putting a hand to her forehead, being the dramatic person she is. 

I bit my bottom lip to fight back to tears. Dani stop don't cry. I told myself. I took a big breath in. "No. He acted like we were strangers. We-" 

"Wait, he ignored you?!" She yelled. 

"No." I said. "Let me finish." She nodded, urging me to go on. "We accidentally saw each other at the game and he just said hey. I asked him how he was. He's good, I'm good, it's all good. Now can I watch my movie?" I said, trying not to be rude, but it came out a little rude. 

"Wait, that's it? He hasn't texted you? Nothing?" 

"Nothing." 

"What. Why?" Evie had a concerned and confused look on her face. 

"Because we broke up Evie. We're not supposed to get back together. Obviously he moved on in America. He probably got so many girls and now he's dating another girl. So I don't blame him if he's not talking to me or texting me. So please can we just drop it?" I sternly said. Evie got a bit scared. 

"Yeah, yeah I'm sorry I said anything." She said quietly. 

I immediately regretted being rude. "Evie I'm-" 

"No, I'm sorry I knew that it's a tough topic. I shouldn't have said anything." Evie replied. 

"Wanna watch a movie?" I asked, trying to lighten the mood. She nodded as she went to get popcorn from her drawers. As the popcorn was popping, I got us iced teas from our mini fridge. I went back up in my bed. She put the popcorn in two bowls and handed one to me. She got up into her bed and I started the movie.

The next morning I walked to my class with Collin, since he insisted on walking me to class. "It's in this building." I said. 

"I'll walk you to your actual class not just the front of the building, Dani." He laughed, which caused me to laugh. We were talking on our way to the elevator when I heard a familiar voice say. "Hey Collin!" We both turned and saw Noura Lee walking towards us. "Hey Noura Lee!" 

"Hey Daniela." She said, when she got closer to us. I forced a smile and stayed quiet.  "What's up?" She asked Collin. 

 Before Collin can answer, I said, "I'm just gonna go to class I'm gonna be late." I turned on my heel and heard Collin say, "Okay!".  I couldn't stand being that close to Noura Lee. I understand that I shouldn't hate her but I don't hate her. I just strongly dislike her. It's normal to hate your ex's new girlfriend, right? Right... I think..

It's short, it's sweet, it's sucky, but i'm telling you it's gonna get more interesting later on just bear with me.
