Dani's POV

It's been two weeks since Luke and I have talked. The days following our argument, he kept texting and calling me. I refused to answer him. He's left me about 10 voicemails. All of them are him begging for me to call him back or text him back. I haven't seen him around campus either. Our new schedules haven't had us bumping into each other thank god. He's toned down to calling me every two days and texting me less and less.

I was in one of the study lounges in my residence hall when I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. I pulled it out expecting Luke's name to pop up but instead it was Cal's name.

"Hello?"

"Hey Dani."

"Hey what's up?"

"I just wanted to talk to you."

"About what?"

"I heard about you and Luke."

"He mentioned me?"

"All of us were on a group call, playing some video games and he was rather off. So Mike asked him what was up and he said he didn't want to talk about it. So we kept trying to pry it out of him and he finally gave in and said and I quote "I messed things up with a girl. I messed really really messed up. Now she won't answer me or talk to me." I figured it was you." Cal said. I sighed instead of saying anything. "Do you want to talk about it?" He asked.

"I told you that he only wanted a bootycall right?"

"Yep."

"Well, I finally confronted him asking if he was ever going to be ready for a relationship. And he said he doesn't know. I asked him if this was ever going to turn into something else and he said no. So I left."

"Well, he told the truth, Dani."

"I didn't think he would just want sex from me. I thought we were going to start off with that then gradually get back together." I got defensive.

"Hey I mean now you can finally move on."

"You just want me to move on so bad right?"

"Dani I'm telling you. You may want this right now but you're going to regret it. It's better for you to get over him the sooner rather than later. It's only going to benefit you in the end." Cal told me. I hate when he was right.

I sighed. "I hate when you're right."

"So you haven't talked to him?"

"Nope."

"Have you seen him?"

"Nope."

"Has he shown up at your door?"

"Nope. Thank god."

"Well, just think about what I told you. I'll talk to you soon."

"Bye Cal." We hung up and I continued to do my work.

After I finished all of my work, I was on my way to my last class of the day. It was a course that helped you get connections for journalism jobs. We apparently will study how big companies came to be and how to properly make a portfolio for our future interning. The class was supposed to help us get a connection by the end of the semester to start our interning next school year.

After the class I walked over to get some dinner at one of the dining halls. I had my earbuds in listening to some music as I walked there alone. The dining hall wasn't far from my last class, so I got there rather quickly. As I arrived at the dining hall, I opened the door to be greeted by someone's back. I tapped his shoulder and he turned around. "Hey is this the line to get food?" I asked. He was tall, brown hair, and brown eyes. He was actually really cute. He smiled at me and nodded yes. I told him thank you and made the quick decision to go to a different place to eat. I left that dining hall and decided to just get some food from my residence hall's restaurant.

I started walking towards my residence hall. I was looking down at my phone, checking Instagram, still listening to music. I looked up after a while to see if I was going the right way. When I looked up, I realized that I was right in front of Luke's residence hall. I tried to walk away quickly, just in case he was around. When I turned the corner, I saw him and a few other guys talking. I quickly hid myself. I peaked around the corner and saw Luke taking a hit from a cigarette and then laughing from what one of his friends said. I hid myself again, thinking what to do. I could pass them and act like he's not there and risk getting caught. Or I could turn back the other way and take the long way back to my dorm. I decided to go with the first option and I completely regretted it once I came out of my hiding spot.

I walked past the guys, hoping he wouldn't see me. But I was wrong. His smile faded from his face. I lifted my head in confidence as I walked past them. I made eye contact with Luke as he did with me. He immediately took the cigarette out of his mouth and threw it on the ground. He stepped on it, which reminded me of Sandy from grease after her transformation. He looked up from the ground, back at me. I quickly looked away and quickened my pace a bit. I finally was out of his view. I sighed deeply as I continued to walk alone.

Part of me thought he was going to ignore me, but part of me was hoping that he would come and chase me. For some reason, I felt disappointed with his reaction. I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't that.

I arrived at my dorm after eating dinner. Evie was in the room and greeted me once I walked through the door.

"Hey D!"

"Hey Evie."

"What's wrong? You look kinda down." She immediately said.

"Nothing."

"Well something looks wrong.."

"I just got a bad grade on one of my exams." I lied.

"Oh. Well you'll do better next time. If you don't C's get degrees. Remember that." She replied, smiling a bit. I forced a smile towards her. I went into the bathroom, after getting my pjs from my bed. I turned the knob to turn on the shower. I hopped in and let the water hit my body. I felt a wave of relief. But right after, I felt sad. I started to cry. I started to hyperventilate but tried to calm myself down before Evie would notice. She has ears like a hawk. I took a couple of deep breaths. After I felt fine and continued with my shower.

After I got out and changed, I tucked myself into bed. "You're going to bed already?" Evie said. "It's so early."

"I don't feel good." I told her. I turned to my side so my back was facing Evie. I closed my eyes to at least try to relax. I felt my phone vibrate continously behind me. I turned over and lifted up my phone to see who it was.
