Dani's POV

"I had fun tonight." Daniel told me, as we reached my car.

"I did too." I forced a smile toward him. I saw him lean in closer towards me. His lips barely touched mine until I heard my phone ring in my pocket. A wave of relief fell over me. I muttered a sorry and took my phone out of my pocket. "Hello?" I answered.

"Hey you good?" I heard Cal whisper on the other end.

"Yeah, I'm coming home now." I answered him. I looked at Daniel and he whispered "Text me when you get home." He smiled then walked away to his car. I quickly got into my car and turned it on. My phone connected to the bluetooth and Cal's voice was now coming through the car speakers. "So what happened?"

"We met up at a coffee shop and we talked a bit then walked around. You called me just in time." I replied. Cal and I planned for him to call me at exactly 21:30.

"What do you mean?"

"He was about to kiss me!" I exclaimed.

"That's good! No?"

"I didn't feel like kissing him. I panicked a little." I told him. I started to drive back home.

"How come?"

"I don't know. The date just went weird. He's like nice but he seems kinda fake. I don't know if you understand." I groaned.

"Dani, it's okay. Not all dates go great." He laughed.

"Is it bad that I was thinking about Luke throughout the whole date?" I asked. Cal stayed silent for a bit.

"What do you mean thinking about him?"

"I kept catching myself compare this guy to Luke. Daniel would say something and in my mind would say, 'Luke would never say something like that' or 'Luke actually went through something like that'. I kept catching myself but never would actually fix it." I sighed. I was at a red light. I put my head down on the steering wheel. "This is hard to do Cal."

"I know, Dani but with time it will get easier. Plus the right guy will help too." I heard the car behind me beep, which made me jump a bit. I kept driving while talking to Calum about the date and about Cal's love life too. Even though he didn't have one at the moment.

"I just got home. Thanks again for calling me and keeping me company." I told him.

"Of course, anything for you." Cal said. I smiled and said goodbye. We hung up as I turned my car off to go inside. I came home for the weekend due to my date and just because I was sick of being at school. When I went inside, I immediately went into the bathroom to shower. After showering, I joined Sammy to watch some TV. While he was watching his show, I decided to catch up on some work. He eventually went upstairs when it got late.

"You're not going to bed?" He asked.

"Not yet, I need to finish this assignment, then I'll go upstairs. Don't worry about me, bud."

"Alright, goodnight Dani." He yawned.

"Goodnight Sam." I typed away on my computer, trying to finish my essay as fast as possible. As much as I wanted to bullshit it and have it be done, I know I couldn't considering it was supposed to be part of my portfolio when I start looking at internships.

After finishing the last paragraph, I went over it and proofread. I finished proofreading it and decided it's the best it was going to get. I saved it, shut my laptop, then checked my phone. 1:26. I was surprised at how long it took me to finish. I gathered all my belongings before I went upstairs. Once I closed my bedroom door, I tucked myself into bed. I let out a deep sigh and got comfortable. I shut my eyes, hoping that I would fall asleep fast. I was about to fall asleep until I felt my phone vibrate. I opened my eyes, picked up my phone to see who texted me. I squinted at the bright light coming from the screen but managed to see the message.
