Toni's Pov

"Welcome to hell serpents.."

I knew this today was going to be just as painful for Cheryl as it was going to be for all of us. She had been tormented in school, just for dressing like a serpent, but when shes seen hanging around with them and even dating one of them. I can't imagine the amount of backlash and unimaginable pain she is going to get from all the Northsiders. But we were walking in as a team, a family almost, we all had her back and she knew that.

"Are you ready Cheryl?" I grabbed her hand and rubbed her knuckles, trying to show her sympathy and strength during this time.
"As ready as I'll ever be." She turned to me and gave me a weak smile, I knew she was struggling, but she was trying to show a strong front towards the monsters inside of that school. I turned to face her and put my hand on her cheek.
"Hey, I know that this is going to be hard for you, but remember, I'm right beside you through it all. Besides, I dont think anyones going to want to mess with these guys." I said while pointing to Fangs and Sweetpea, who were crunching their knuckles, Cheryl glanced over to them, then back to me. Her face lightened up, but this time it was genuine, showing her natural confidence.
"Hey Red, if anyone says anything, you come to me first. Anything for Tiny's girlfriend. Besides, show them that attitude that you showed us at Southside high." Sweetpeas advice made Cheryl laugh, I loved seeing her like this. Carefree and relaxed, it was such a nicer side of Cheryl, it kind of gave me relief whenever she was like this, I didnt have to worry about her being upset.
"Thanks Guys, it makes me so much more confident to go in there knowing its with you guys." She grasped my hand even tighter than before, and I squeezed back. We both looked at each other with reassuring faces then started to walk into school, hand in hand.

When we walked through the double doors that lead into Riverdale High, all eyes were instantly on us. Everyone was switching between looking at us and their friends, there was also a steady level of chatter in the air, people gossiping about Cheryl and all of us, probably saying how shocked they are that she is hanging around with all of us. I turned to check on Cheryl, and to my surprise she was comepletely unphased by the whole situation, she just carried on walking down the hallway like it was every other day.

While we were still hand in hand, she took me and the other two straight to the principles office, when we were almost there, a Raven haired girl stood infront of Cheryl.

"Oh look here, Cheryl Blossoms with the Serpents, how pathetic." Wow... this girl really was a bitch.
"Oh my God Veronica, what do you want?" So this was the Veronica girl that Cheryl was on about.
"Hi sorry... Veronica is it? Cheryl can hang around with who she wants.. and no one can change that, especially not a cold hearted bitch like you.." Cheryl turned to me and started smiling, giggling almost at how I spoke to her.
"Awee, Cheryl... you couldn't stick up for yourself so you had to go get your Girlfriend serpent to do it for you..omg.. girlfriend! Bombshells a Lesbian!" Cheryls face broke, only now I realised how horrible this bitch could be, and I saw, in that brief moment, all the pain that this girl had caused Cheryl right infront of my eyes, and it drove me crazy, I turned to face Sweetpea and Fangs, signalling them to let it all out on Veronica. They both walked over to her and stood, inches infront of her, yet they were towering over her.
"Now you listen to me Veronica, Cheryls life has absolutely nothing to do with you, so why don't you stick your nose out of her buisness, and leave her alone. Who she loves and who she doesnt is all her choice." I felt myself slowly getting madder and madder after every single word that I spat out of my mouth. I was getting closer and closer to her every second I was ranting. "I don't understand why people like you take joy out of making people like Cheryl feel like crap. Your not big, your not tough.." At this point I was right up to her face, spitting on her, every word I said. "You....are a coward."

Veronica took a step back away from all of us, moved her bag further up her shoulder, then run away in the opposite direction to us. I took a deep breath and attempted to calm down, the whole time I was grasping onto Cheryls hand, I didnt want to let go because I knew that if I did then Veronica would probably in the Doctors Office right now. I felt Cheryl pull on my arm then wrap me in a hug, she pulled me as tight as she could and I felt my body relax in her arms.
"Thank you so much Toni, for showing Veronica where she stands in this place, all she has done is torment me for years." I felt a tear, obviously Cheryls, fall onto my shoulder. I had been in this school for all of a few minutes and already had my first argument, great.
"That...was terrifying." Was all that could come out of my mouth. It honestly was, even though I was a serpent I still found the smallest things terrifying.
"Wow really.. your supposed to be this big bad serpent."
"Well, when it comes to my girlfriend, i cant just fight my way out of things.
"Thank you so much, my knight in leather."
