Chapter 9: A Shinki's Name

"Boundary!" Daikoku shouted as he slashed his fingers in the air in a halberd form.

A transparent white wall appeared between you and the two people you seeked help to.

You fell to the ground, accidentally dropping Yato as you do so. "Daikoku-san, Kofuku-chan, please! We only need to hold an ablution to pass judgement to Yukine-kun. That's the only thing we need to do in order to heal Yato, right?" You kneeled to them and bowed your head. "Please, help us again this time. I'll repay you with anything. I beg of you!"

The others were surprised at your actions. They didn't expected someone like you, who almost killed Bishamonten and fought her with only a single shinki, would bow to another god like that. It was as if you let all of your pride go just to save Yato.

Daikoku sighed in defeat and uttered. "Fine, but I'll only let you and Hiyori-chan enter."

You and Hiyori entered the boundary and went inside their house. "We must look for other shinkis at once. Yato wouldn't last till morning."

"I know that. Don't worry, (y/n). I'll handle it." Daikoku reassured as he removed his apron.

"I'll go with you, Daikoku-san!" Hiyori protested.

"Thanks, Hiyori-chan." The middle-aged man replied.

"Anyways, (y/n)-chan, wash your body here." Kofuku lead you to the bathroom. "The water is connected to the spring outside. You can remove your blight with it." She frowned after noticing your silence. "What's wrong, (y/n)-chan?"

You looked at her big purple eyes that are staring right at your. "N-no, it's nothing." You stared at the ground, feeling guilty about what you did in the past. "I'm just thinking if I'm worthy of your kindness, Kofuku-chan. I mean after what I did before."

A small smile formed on Kofuku's lips. "You mean about Daigo? You shouldn't worry about it, (y/n)-chan. It was all in the past now. Besides, we're the ones who made a mistake by adopting him."

"But still-"

"(y/n)-chan, think of it as a gratitude of helping Yato-chan in his fight with Bisha." She then pushed you inside the bathroom. "Now, go inside and wash yourself."

You sighed as you started to strip. You looked at your hands as you started to wash yourself. "Can I still really used these blood-stained hands to help other people?"

At Riku's side...

"Tch. This is stupid. What do I have to do with this?" Yukine clicked his tongue while looking anywhere except for Riku, Kofuku, and Yato.

"To blight Yato this much, what did you do, Yukine-kun?" Riku asked in a serious tone.

"Huh?! Nothing! The hell do I care about that guy? He's just a crappy god who daydreams about his fortune. He doesn't even have a-" Riku cutted him off.

"But he named you! He kept you! And you should be thankful of that!" He scolded him.

"But I was just having fun! Is that bad?! I'm dead anyways! No one cares about me! No one dares to speak with me! I'm not even free to do the things I wanted to!" Yukine talked back at him. "And now even having fun is prohibited?! I can't be like them! I'll always be just like this! I can't get all the things that I want with this body!"

Riku clenched his fist to suppress his anger. "Is this what you call having fun? Don't give me that crap! Look! Look at what happened after you had some fun!" He pointed at Yato. "You're just being selfish, Yukine-kun. You only cared about your wellbeing and didn't even noticed his condition." He smirked. "Right, I forgot that you're still a brat after all."
