Chapter 11: Threat

Earlier morning...

You saw Hiyori in a pink Yukata across a crossing. You were about to walk to her when Yato and Yukine came running to her.

Yato greeted her and started talking about stuffs you can't hear yet you figured out that it was all just about nonsense things because of his actions. You went near them and wondered why Hiyori just kept on staring at Yato for a while as if trying to remember her. You were surprised to hear her next words.

"Who are you?"

"Am I hearing right? Did you just said 'Who are you', Hiyori-chan?" You asked as she also stared at you. "You're just joking, right?"

She turned to Yukine innocently, uncomfortable with the attention she is getting. "Yukine-kun, who are they?"

"Huh? What do you mean?" Yukine asked.

Yato laughed. "What, Hiyori? Is this a New Year's joke? It's me duh (Ore da yo ore)."

"Oredayo Ore-san?" Hiyori cocked her head to the side in confusion.

"Yes! Owre da yow owre!" He said in a fancy accent. He laughed once again and waved his hands on his face. "What nationality is that?! Ha ha ha!"

"That's just lame." You commented while eyeing Yato awkwardly.

"Are they you're acquaintances, Yukine-kun?" Hiyori asked him again.

You blinked several times while staring at Hiyori. "So she really has forgotten about us, Yato. That's just sad. You're first follower just forgotten about you~"

"How can you be so calm about this, (y/n)?!" Yato shouted at you in panic.

Back at the current time...

"Yukine-kun, do you need help in English or Math? I can definitely help you with that." You fixed your fake glasses as props for teaching Yukine today. "Do you need to find x or y? Or maybe you want to learn about conjunctions." You winked. "I used to tutor kids in different grades before~"

"Can you teach me with Math today, (y/n)...-san?" Yukine kindly asked you with a blush on his face.

You patted his head and smiled, thinking that the way he tried to ask for your help is cute. "Just (y/n) is fine, Yukine-kun, and of course I can help you with that."

"WHAT THE HECK IS HAPPENING?! WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?! WHY DID HIYORI FORGOT ABOUT ME?!" Yato bursted out, his voice being heard by everyone in the household.

You shove a melon bread into his mouth, shutting him up. "Be quiet, Yato! Can't you see that we're studying here?!"

"(y/n)'s right. Just calm down, Yato." Yukine added.

Yato swallowed the bread whole and whined. "But what happened to Hiyori?!"

You rested your chin on your palm while playing with a mechanical pencil. "Something must have happened to her that night. She went to a shrine visit that night with her friends, right?"

"Yeah." Yato nodded. "Is there something odd about it?"

"Hmmm? Nothing. Maybe I should ask Reo after this." You thought loudly while scribbling quadratic equations on Yukine's notebook.

"For some reason, she only forgot the two of you." Yukine mumbled.

"What are we gonna do?!" Yato panicked as he can't help but wiggle his body in a weird way.
