Chapter 19: Gods in Distress

You and Riku were walking back to Kofuku  and Daikoku's house as the sun finally went down. The sky is dark and the air is already chilling as the night came. You spotted the familiar dark blue haired man walking towards your direction.

"Is that... Yato?" Riku asked in a low voice beside you while eyeing him.

"Yo, Yato! What are-" You were about to greet him until you noticed the unconscious chesnut haired high school girl in his arms. You paused sensing the odd yet intimidating atmosphere surrounding Yato. 'This is not good.' You quickly went near him and asked about Hiyori's condition. "What happened to Hiyori-chan?"

He gazed at you with his cold yet mesmerizing blue eyes for a while before answering. "We were attacked by one of Bishamon's shinkis. They have an ayakashi with them. When we got separated, they took it as an advantage and kidnapped her."

"Bishamon's shinki?! Did she thought that you were the one who killed Suzuha?!" You said in surprise. "If Hiyori-chan stayed too long in her ayakashi form, she might die!"

"Bishamonten? That war god again? When are you even going to make peace with her?" Riku interrupted.

"Not when she understands who's in the wrong here." Yato replied, his hair covering his eyes as he looked at the girl on his arms. "But probably that will never happen. If she's not stopped immediately, innocent lives will also be involved in this mess... including you, (y/n)."

"I don't mind being involved in it. You and Bishamon are both my friends. Besides, Hiyori-chan's in danger, right?" You retorted. "I'll help."

Yato once again stared at you with a serious look in his eyes before continuing to walk ahead. "You're staying here. Me and Yukine are going to do this alone. I can't have you getting into trouble again because of us."

"But Yato! I-"

"I said stay here!" He shouted and glared back at you.

You gulped as you stepped back after seeing his familiar angry expression which you haven't seen for a while. "Yato..."

He continued on walking towards the direction opposite to while muttering. "I'm bringing Hiyori to her family's hospital and I'll go back later to take Yukine. Stay at Kofuku's until we come back."

"Tch. Whatever." You clicked your tongue and shoved your hands to your pocket as you started to walk towards the said house.

~Several minutes later~

"(y/n), I thought we're going back to Kofuku-san's." Your shinki spoke behind you as you continued to walk towards a certain place. "Knowing you, you won't follow Yato's orders, right?"

"Why would I follow him anyway? What he's planning to do is too dangerous. Besides, that person might show up." You grinned and spun to face your confused shinki. "So we're also risking our lives to take Hiyori-chan back~!"

"And you're going to drag me into this?" Riku sighed after hearing your declaration. "You're such a troublesome master."

"Well, thank you~!" You stopped after reaching your destination. "By the way, Riku, it's time for you to meet the old geezer and the owner of the shrines we're staying at before."

"You mean, that 'Tenjin-sama'?" He asked.

"Yup. Good ol' Tenjin can help us~" You exclaimed before a cold gust of wind passed by, making the cherry blossoms scatter in the air.

"You called, (y/n)-chan?" The old man appeared along with his shrine maiden shinkis.

"Yo! It's been a while, Tenjin. How have you been?" You waved while wearing the same friendly smile. "Seems like Yato has caused you some troubles this past few weeks. Do you mind if I add a few?"
