Chapter 26: Hopelessness

You and Yato stared at each other for a while. There was no one in the shack except the four of you. Two gods two shinkis. It was silent and none of you were moving until Nora decided to interrupt.

"When will you learn, (y/n)? We have never failed to warn you yet you keep tailing us. Father would be very happy to get rid of you." Nora scornfully told you.

"You never failed to warn me, that is true, and still you never have gotten rid of me." You mocked her. "I wonder why, Nora~chan?"

"(Y/n), it's best if you go now."

"Yato, don't make me repeat myself." Your (e/c) eyes showed a look of seriousness. "If I go, your coming with me."

He heaved a long sigh. "You know I do not want to do this again, (y/n)."

"Heh~? Scared of daddy, aren't you?" You teased him. "How lame. That is so uncool, Yato~chan."

"I am not playing games with you, (y/n). Leave now or else-"

"Or else what?" You put your phone back to your pocket and put your hand out. "You'll kill me? That was always the case when we argue before. Come, Saki."

Riku turned to his vessel form and freaked out right after. "Are we seriously going to do this?! Fight them?!"

"It is inevitable." You put on a fighting stance as you waited for him while staring at his blue eyes.

"Come, Hikki." At the mention of her name, Nora became a sword with a red handle. Yato swayed backwards for a moment before charging at you.

You blocked his attack with Riku and although it felt quite heavy, you were glad your shinki was able to withstand it. Not a single scratch on his blade. "My, my, it seems Riku can withstand Nora-chan's sharpness~" You swung your vessel and created multiple blades of air which flew to Yato.

He barely dodged some of it, earning himself a shallow cut on his cheek. He jumped outside through the hole which your air blades created.

You swiftly followed, jumped just above him, and kicked him to the ground. You raised your arm to cover your eyes from the dust as you fell.

"Did we got him?"

"Not yet. He's not that weak, Riku."

The dust cleared. You saw him standing in the middle of the field. His eyes dull and empty. You always hated that look of his. Back when, he was one with depravity. You knew how terrible it felt and you don't want him to return to that anymore. A god of calamity. He never wanted such a title as much as you hated yours. "Yato... Are you going to let him do what he wants again?"

"This is none of your concerns, (y/n)..." His blue eyes gazed at yours. "... is what I wanted to say but I guess that won't convince you to leave, am I right?" He clicked his tongue. "Dealing with you is such a pain in the ass."

"You should now that right from the beginning and the only way to stop me is to stop doing this bullsh*t." You glared at him. "I didn't know you were such a masochist, Yato."

"I doubt you are not aware why I am doing this. I'll return soon after, so for now-"

"No can do." You clenched your fists and gripped your vessel tightly. Fury almost taking control of you. "You know damn well how that bastard manipulate everything! How can you just let him take advantage of you?! You're such an idiot!"

"Call me whatever you like. I'm only doing this to protect everyone. I promise I'm going to go back-"
