As if things hadn't been bad enough already, news quickly spread that Roland had been reported as missing in action. Mina was numb. There was nothing that could be said to her to bring any form of feeling. She wasn't sure how to handle the grief. Pain was beyond relevant. To make matters worse, Aldrik had been called away to make deliveries that would take him weeks to get back to her. She had to find something to get her through day to day life.

It wasn't easy finding things to occupy her dark thoughts. She had fought the emotion, grieving when there was time. Plotting when she had quiet moments. Her grief turned into strategizing. Strategizing on how to free the people that were locked up for no reason worth figuring out. Strategizing on how to get her papa and fiancé back. It was the only things she still had to hold onto and focus her energy on. She had nothing else. Nobody else. Just an overly inventive imagination struggling to find anything to focus on but her own loss.

She began reaching out to contacts that she had that had any form of military attachment. She needed to find out where she could find her family. She needed to find out how to get them back. How to rescue them. She had nothing left to lose. If she died trying to find a form of happiness then so be it.

She was a woman on a mission. A woman without a true home because the only home that she had was within Germany and that was no longer any home that she was willing to accept. She'd find a way to help her Fatherland redeem itself. It would take time, but that's all she had anymore. Time.

Word came through her sources that Roland had been fighting somewhere outside of Germany. The source was a reliable one, and a friend of both her family's and Roland's. She had to tread carefully on how far she reached out. She couldn't risk being in contempt of the new law of staying home and being a housewife. She couldn't be found as being insubordinate. If that happened, especially without Aldrik around to try to bail her out, things could go south very quickly. She could kiss finding her family away for good.

A friend of a friend was able to provide her with a source a few towns away. It was a long shot, but if it panned out to find where her family was then she'd take it. Aldrik was expected to be home in the next few days, but Mina couldn't wait. She began packing up an easy-to-travel-with bag. She wasn't going to risk losing the only lead that could potentially pan out. She could take care of herself.

She left a note for Aldrik, before beginning her journey by foot. Perhaps someone would give her a ride along the way. By foot it'd take her at least the day to get to the town, perhaps longer if she had to stop to rest.

It didn't take more than a few hours for her feet to begin hurting from the walk. The road was uneven and mean to step upon. Nobody tried picking her up and those that did didn't seem credible. She quickly turned away from the ride offers and kept her focus on picking her feet up and marching her way to the answers she needed.
