"I do not know how we will get her down there, Decker." Armina's worry was contagious. She wasn't one to back down from a challenge.
"I will carry her down." Decker patted her arm, slowly setting Mina down next to him.
"How? On your back?" She scoffed before rethinking. "Actually... that might work..."
"It has to work." He looked at the escape route meaningfully.
"It is going to be a tight fit." She looked toward the area, rubbing her chin thoughtfully.
"I think it will work, but we are going to have to get over there before someone spots us that is not on our side." Mina watched the opening too. The building they were next to had enough cover for now, but once they were out in the open there was no turning back.
"You!" A voice snuck up behind them. "Were you the one that put her up to this?"
Decker had let go of Mina in time to turn around. He wasn't fast enough however as Werner shoved him up against the building and threw a fast punch into the man's face.
It took a second for Decker to recover before he shoved Werner back. "Who the hell are you?"
"The man that will kick your ass for getting a helpless, young lady involved in a scheme so absurd that it will end her future!" The anger on Werner's face was contagious. "She has a baby, dammit!"
"Werner..." Mina tried to get his attention, but she was drowned out as Decker blocked another one of Werner's punches.
"She is fully capable of taking care of herself." Decker was quick to defend Mina's actions. The need for a fight could be seen in both men's eyes.
She tried to step forward to stop them, but Armina put a hand on her shoulder. "Let them have this fight. We need them focused."
Decker landed a good blow to Werner's midsection, but wasn't expecting Werner to quickly return the action. Both men were on the grounding rolling around in no time.
"You have got to be kidding me." Mina shook her head in disbelief. "They are grown men, Armina."
"Men never grow out of being boys." Armina crossed her arms, leaning against another building behind her.
"They are going to get hurt!" Mina glanced at her friend before refocusing on the pursuing fight.
"Nah, they will be all right. They just need to blow off some tension." The woman didn't look at all concerned with the ensuing fight. In fact, she seemed kind of proud of Decker's role in the matter.
"We do not have time for this!" Mina pulled out her pistol that she'd retrieved from Edith's body. She raised it up in the air and fired it. "I said... that was... ENOUGH!"
The rage welled up in her voice as her gaze narrowed. "Decker did not recruit me for this plan. In fact, I came up with it myself. Give me credit for where credit is due. If you doubt my ability to watch out for myself, then you know nothing of me. I walked into a British camp, recruited the man that killed my father, and set this plan up while being pregnant with a baby that was from a man who followed me to my room and raped me months earlier. I have fought my way to this point with every ounce of strength I have had. And when Markus's British upbringing gave him away and he was deemed a traitor, Aldrik and I found him and hunted down the men that nearly tortured him to death. And I do not regret having them killed. Just like I do not regret killing my fiancé for both cheating on me and betraying me. If you think that I cannot handle myself... if for one second you think I will not defend the people I love and win Every. Single. Battle. Then you do not know me well at all. Now pull your shit together and let us get out of here before we are outmanned and outnumbered and that ruthless side of me has to come out. I am no longer a naive, little girl. I am a fighter. Now help me finish this."
Armina stood prouder. She gave both men a look that was unreadable, yet spoke volumes. "Decker, get her on your back. Werner is it? Cover us as we get to that hole in the ground. Everyone else who matters is out of here; we only have whatever guards that survived left to contend with. Let us get the hell out of here."
Mina fought the smile from her face, keeping herself serious and ready to try to walk out of there on her own if need be. Instead, Decker hoisted her up on his back.
"Think you can hold on?" He asked gruffly.
"Did you hear nothing of what I just said?" She couldn't help but roll her eyes. "I can do whatever I put my mind to."
Letting out an annoyed breath, Decker grumbled something before running out in the open. There was no time to waste. They needed to get out of there.
Everything remained quiet and still. Perhaps they had nothing more to contend with. Honestly, Mina didn't mind not having any more hiccups in their plan. Although unusual, she wouldn't mind for things to finally go easy.
