The light of dawn was vastly approaching and time was running out to fulfill their dirty deeds and put an end to any form of leakage coming from the mouths of those deemed their enemies. Kurt Lehmann was a harder one to find. None of the men were family men. It was anyone's guess on where they were.
Aldrik had heard enough about Kurt while he was working in that camp to know that the man was violent and liked his women. He had a theory where he was bedding out for the night. Either way they looked at it, there was a good chance that there'd be someone else involved that was innocent in the matters at hand. Someone that they needed to decide would live or die this morning.
"Mina, I know Dennis Meier. His family was friends to mine growing up." Aldrik's words came out slow and abruptly after a long silence driving. It was obvious that the name had hit a nerve and the man's final outcome weighed upon him.
"Aldrik, we cannot let him..." She began to shake her head, pulling her attention directly to him.
"No, I know, Mina." He flashed her a quick look. "I was not going to ask to spare his life. He chose his crimes and he needs to pay for them."
"Then what are you trying to ask?" Her words came out slowly, deliberately.
"We can do what you want with Lehmann, but I want us to end it quickly with Dennis." His attention had refocused on the road. She could see the wheels turning in his mind, the small portion of regret in his eyes. "No torture."
Slowly dropping her gaze, Mina refocused on the road in front of them as well. "Okay. We can do that, Aldrik. If that is what you want."
He nodded, bringing the car to a subtle stop. "This is the place. I do not know what to expect here, Mina. Word was that Lehmann had a different woman every night. This place is known for providing them."
"Providing them?" Mina stared at the dimly lit building. She assumed it was the type of place that always had a light on.
Aldrik looked over at her and swallowed. "Women that want to get pregnant, and who get paid to provide the services beforehand. Most come from families unable to offer them a better future."
Mina couldn't stop her face from scrunching up in disgust. "How many people could be in that building?"
"I do not know, but it is safe to guess there could be a lot." He stared up at the house, watching for any form of movement or life.
"Maybe it would be better if I just went in and lured him out." Mina reached for the door handle of the truck.
"No, you do not know what he looks like. Besides, it is too dangerous for you to go alone." Aldrik shook his head, reaching for his own door handle. "We go together."
Nodding, Mina got out of the truck. She stretched her back from side to side before walking over to Aldrik.
"We cannot do anything to him in there. We have to get him out here and away from this place." There was a deeper seriousness to his voice than before. Mina figured it was her imagination, but she couldn't help but think she heard a little fear in his voice.
Nodding once again, Mina began walking toward the large, two-story building. She felt Aldrik's strong hand on her shoulder, turning her around.
"Mina, he is dangerous. You do whatever is necessary to keep yourself safe." The fear had been covered up by protectiveness.
