"Are you serious right now?" Markus rushed in front of Aldrik, forcing him to a stop.

Stopping, Aldrik huffed out an irritated breath. He stared past Markus, shrugging. "What do you want me to say?"

"I want you to tell me that you two were not that stupid to choose such a long journey to safety." Brows arched, Markus waited for something different to be spoken. The truth seemed too far-fetched to be true.

"It..." Aldrik barely had a chance to breathe the word before being interrupted.

"Is only a four or five hour trip." Decker shrugged, checking the ammo in the pistol he took.

Markus shot him a glare. "By car. When you can take main roads."

"Maybe they will." Decker glanced up. His words were unbelievable, but his voice held a level of obviousness.

Markus looked between the two men in disbelief. "They would not be that foolish."

Aldrik chuckled, rubbing his face as dry blood and smudged dirt flecked off.

Pinning him with a glare, Markus shook his head. Of course Mina would be that foolish. She'd drive right under the enemy's nostrils if it meant that she got her way.

"The question to ask is not how they are planning on getting to Switzerland, rather, how we are going to find them." Decker slid the weapon in the small of his back, glancing at Aldrik for an answer.

Markus turned his focus over to the man as well. He had a bad feeling about this.

"Mina and I discussed a meeting place in Switzerland if we were separated and things came to this point. That is not the thing you both should worry about, but I do have an idea for getting us there." Aldrik's grim expression lightened up into a devious smile. "I doubt either of you are going to like it."

Oh shit. Markus's eyes widened. That look was not welcoming. It screamed of danger. Possibly of pain. Definitely of unneeded risk.

"I stopped complaining about ideas I did not like as soon as my Armina walked into my life. The woman flirts with danger. Your Mina..." He paused; a slow smile teased the edges of his lips. His thoughts were clearly on the deeds she'd all ready done to prove herself. "She skips the flirting and smacks the danger straightforward on the lips."

And I'm in love with her. Markus swallowed the words.

Aldrik reached out and smacked Markus's back, squeezing the back of his neck. "Your life will never be boring."

Markus gave him a weak smile. No, my life will never be boring. I just need to find her first.

Chuckling, Aldrik paused to face Markus. "You have one thing to decide before making this trip."

"Yeah, and what's that?" He looked him straight in the eyes trying to figure out what his next words would be. There was nothing that would stop him from finding Mina.

"You are here for the British. You are not here as a German." He said calmly, his hand on his shoulder as if he'd need to hold him up.

Shrugging, Markus shook his head in confusion. "You're point, Aldrik?"

"His point is you will be in direct dereliction of your duty to the British military." Decker stood tall, watching Markus carefully. "Make your decision carefully, Markus. If you choose to go after Mina, I would heavily advise you not to return to England. If you do, you could be tried for something as serious as being a traitor for not returning. War is a serious thing; the consequences for your choices are equally as serious."

Swallowing the saliva filling his mouth, his gaze dropped. He never cared about what happened to him. Why was he even bothering to think about this now? Looking between Aldrik and Decker, he nodded. "I am aware of the consequences. I will not abandon Mina. Not now, not ever. Germany has all ready tried to kill me, might as well give England the chance too."

Snorting, Aldrik took a step back. "You are too damn stubborn to die."

His mouth quirked up. "Guess I'm perfect for Mina then. She's too stubborn to give up."

"We will not argue with you there." Decker rubbed the back of his neck before looking toward Aldrik. "What will your plan be?"

As if remembering where he'd left off, Aldrik smiled. If Death smiled, it'd be that smile. "We are going to steal a plane."

Markus couldn't believe his ears. "Are you fucking serious?"

"I said it did I not?" He arched a brow and winked.

"Where are we going to get a plane?" Decker crossed his arms over his chest, more curious than nervous.

"There is a private airstrip a few miles away. The owner owes me a favor." Aldrik shrugged, walking over to a truck and testing the handle. The rusted door pulled open.

Without thinking, Markus stalked over and shoved the door shut. "There is no way we will survive stealing a plane, let alone flying it. Do you even no how to fly?"

"Do you?" Aldrik crossed his arms, a deep breath leaving his mouth as he waited for an answer.

Markus stared at him, fighting to keep his face blank. Looking away he shrugged. "I've dabbled in it."

Aldrik straightened, addressing Markus with a little bit more interest. "Really?"

"Like I said, I only dabbled. I don't know if I even remember everything."

"I am willing to take a risk on that." Aldrik gently pushed Markus out of the way and opened the truck back up. Sliding into the seat, he reached down to pull out the wires. Touching two wires together, he waited for the vehicle to come to life. A roar shook the truck to life. Sticking his head out, Aldrik arched a brow. "You two coming?"

Decker nodded and casually walked over.

Markus didn't look nearly as persuaded, staring into Aldrik's eyes as if they'd hold some kind of reassurance. He wasn't seeing any. "Oh, what the hell..." He mumbled, getting in on the other side. Slamming his door shut, he glanced over to his companions before focusing on the road ahead of them. "I expect no blame to come my way if we crash the stupid plane."

Both men glanced at him, but said nothing. The sound of silence wasn't reassuring. Thoughts of his past flying lessons scourged through his brain like a whip trying to slap some sense into him. Markus couldn't help but admit things were going to be a little rough with this upcoming flight. He barely remembered any of his training and had very little experience. He hoped he'd remember once he was in the plane. Their lives now depended upon it.
