A small blubber was released in joy as the toy approached her once again and Albus watched on in enjoyment at the silver blob in front of him. She sat on the ground as her chubby body bounced in a laugh, her wrists were hidden beneath the rolls and immense pride ran through his blood at the tiny baby. Eventually the toy became boring and she started to crawl around the large room grabbing onto anything she could, this was hazardous as things could easily fall but her father was too quick for that. Fear of the Dark Lord was lost at that moment but of course it couldn't be forgotten for long. The door shook as violent knocks were sounded from the other side. The door flew open as an irritated Filch entered the room. "A letter." Was all he said as he then spun on his heel to leave the room, he sneered at the small girl who only looked as though she had walked in on the most confusing scene ever as she looked lost almost. The parchment was pulled open and then came the terrifying words of a well known death eater. 'Meet me at the Windy Hilltop. I make a promise that only I shall turn up and hope the same of you. I will be there by the time you get this.' Albus brought the letter to the fire and watched it burn quickly. His hands found his daughter and the fact of the castle being empty annoyed him. "You shall come too then my dear. I doubt Argus would care for you. Minerva is at her home. A small walk but a distraction that cannot be afforded in perilous times such as these baby girl." He spoke to her as though she understood but instead she just placed her head onto his shoulder. They were together as they reached the outside of the grounds and there they remained until *pop*. The hill whirled with the wind and there stood a man in complete black. Hair whipped around him as well as the clothes that he had on but what stood out was his pale features. "Severus, what has you writing to me?" Severus felt his face fall quickly as two sets of gleaming eyes trained on him. One was cautious whilst the other was merry, so innocent and definitely naive. "I told you to come alone. I kept to my side of the promise." His face grimaced at the small girl but she grinned the cheesiest smile, showing her only three teeth in the process. A giggle passed through her throat as her eyes squinted due to the large smile. "She likes you. Besides, it is not school time so there was no one else that could care for her. Nor should they as she is my daughter after all." Severus growled but the girl just laughed even more at him. "Fine. Albus I need your help..." The pair spoke as the younger of the two sounded his concerns with absolute desperation in his voice.
For an hour they stood on the hill but the wind grew fiercer making the small girl bury her chilled body into the fabric that wrapped around her father's body but when she felt no warmer than before she turned and looked at the man in black. Her fingers stretched out and quickly she began silently begging for him to hold her. With a 'little' persuasion he took her and instantly she buried her face into his chest. "Please, Albus, just keep her safe." His voice showed the broken nature that lingered in him. The small girl had fallen asleep as he held her wrapped in his cape but he felt her occasionally tighten her grip with every new wind that hit them. Instantly his thoughts clouded with Lily and the baby. They were still so innocent and yet soon they would be wrapped up in absolute hell, subconsciously he held her closer as if to try protect her also. His deep voice rumbled on and she found a comfort in the soft vibrations of his chest. Severus was above all feeling guilty as he thought about the potential loss of she who he loved and the child in his arms reminded him constantly of the monster that he had been and, in many ways still was monstrous. "Severus, you were always excellent at potions were you not?" He nodded sceptically towards the old man. "At the end of this coming year, Horace has admitted to wanting to retire. I request that you take up the position once he leaves." It took a considerable amount of persuasion but Severus knew that he would have to earn the trust that he so desired from his old headmaster.
When the pair departed ways Severus felt just as guilty as he did after uttering the word 'mudblood'. Albus was equally as nervous as he realised the danger that the Potter family was in. Quickly he apparated to the gate then headed to his office. Fawks sat on his perch and looked quizzically at the man who was now urgently writing a letter but he stopped abruptly as he came to his feet. The paper was lit on fire and he left the castle all together. He had once again travelled with his daughter, the bearded man landed with a pop outside a stunning, thatch roofed cottage in the Hogsmeade village. A knock on the door brought the occupants from their supposed slumber. Soon a rather flustered Minerva came down in a nightgown but her dishevelled hair gave her away. "I must apologise for the intrusion. Unfortunately though I have bad news. It is about Lord Voldemort." The red that had tinted her cheeks from embarrassment swiftly left her and instead her face paled to a shade almost as white as the child. Elphinstone Urquart walked down sheepishly as he heard the deep rumble of another man. The pair greeted one another and the child was handed to Elphinstone. After an hour of the pair discussing a matter they separated their ways as Albus took the girl and left. Tears slipped down the woman's face as she turned to her husband. She couldn't get to him quick enough as her legs swiftly transferred her to his side. Minerva's face couldn't have physically gotten any closer to his chest if they tried as his arms wrapped around the witch's body in front of him. Her long hair was flowing to her waist and his fingers entangled themselves into the locks that swung before him. He eventually managed to get her to move to their bed where they could sleep but he knew that in a state like this the task was a completely fruitless one.
