"Why do you spend your life with Minerva?" Amycus asked bitterly as the pair sat with one another talking "she is my mother." Minerva squeezed the girl's hand in shock. Poppy smugly smiled as she witnessed it all. "I see how she got deputy headmistress." Alecto retorted but Alice just stood up. "Idiots. She was married and my father was gay. She isn't my biological mother. It doesn't change the fact of her being my mother though and Poppy also being my Maw." Before the twins could stand to face her Severus stepped in. "Leave her be." He snapped at the pair. "Why? So that you can finish me off also?" Her words were venomous as her eyes squinted into a deathly glare. "Watch it." He retorted bitterly "oh I did. I watched as he-he fell." Her blue eyes gleamed like her fathers for a second. As quickly as the gleam stopped it started again. This time her eyes constantly looked exactly like her father's. Severus had to look else where to prevent any rash actions. "Coward." She muttered as the door closed behind her. The walk to her private quarters was similar to that of the walk to the Gryffindor common room. "I thought that you left." The Fat Lady announced when Alice passed. "I did. I help Minerva."

It was like torture. Watching students constantly miss lessons due to the torture inflicted by the death eaters, pain ridden students walking in as they waited for potions to kick in. There was no rest for anyone. "Neville." Alice spoke and the brunette turned around. "Good luck." She offered and the first genuine smile crossed his lips for the first time in a long while. Students were marched from one class to another and the whole place looked like a boot camp for naughty children. "Severus." Minerva spoke when the door opened again. "I came here for Miss Dumbledore." His deep voice made Alice feel tears threaten her eyes. "No thanks. Not a fan of heights. The tower also has some bad memories for me." His growl made her shudder and he saw the fear that he caused her. Soon enough though her arm was grabbed by his. Minerva began to argue and protect her but they were gone. The pair walked to the office but as she got to the door she pulled back. "No. I can't do it." He forced her through and she felt a tear fall at the sight of the hardly touched office. "It has been almost a year. Where is the boy? He was spotted near here today, if you do not tell me the twins will get it out of you." Alice huffed at the threat and closed her eyes. "I keep my head down and mouth shut. I wasn't aware that he was even in the wizarding world never mind the school. I have a class to teach unlike you." Severus slammed his palms down to the desk below "damn it woman. Tell me. I am tired of this cat and mouse game, tell me and I will let you leave this room." Alice found her courage and opened her eyes. Her blue sparkling eyes made Snape flinch but he pretended that it didn't effect him. "It is very tiring torturing students. Breaking their hopes and dreams. Losing all the respect that others felt for you and instead replacing it with fear." Her eyes wandered to the portrait of her father and she let a tear fall at the beauty of him and the fact that never again would she be able to hug or kiss him. To feel his touch was a craving that never again would come true. "I love you daddy." He winked and replied "I love you too." When the girl left Severus broke down into tears but wiped them away and left. No one else would know what had just happened.

Alice was in the infirmary assisting Poppy to make quick work of the injuries sustained. Horace was if not teaching making potions to supply Poppy with enough. Everyone was at their wits end when they were all summoned to the great hall. Her sigh told it all as she walked with the patients to the hall. There they stood in their houses as the faculty members stood around the edges, prepared to defend a student of required. Poppy stood by a door and Alice stood ten foot to one of her sides. Severus and the twins stood at the front when the headmaster spoke "Many of you are surely wondering why I have summoned you at this hour. It's came to my attention that earlier this evening Harry Potter was sighted in Hogsmeade. Now... should anyone, student or staff, attempt to aid Mr Potter, they will be punished in a manner consistent with the severity of their transgression. Furthermore, any person found to have knowledge of these events, who fails to come forward, will be treated as equally guilty. No one? Now then should anyone know of Harry Potter's movements step forward now." When he finished speaking after a slight delay steps were sounded from between the Gryffindor students. 'Idiot' Alice thought but continued 'brave idiot though. Gotta love him' "It seems, despite your exhaustive defensive strategies, you still have a bit of a security problem, Headmaster. I'm afraid it's quite extensive." In stepped the remaining order members. Alice silently walked to them and hugged Kingsley for a brief second. "How dare you stand where he stood. Tell them how it happened that night. Tell them how you looked him in the eye, a man who trusted you, and killed him. Tell them." Alice had walked to the miserable boy and held his left arm to try make him see her but he didn't. Snape pulled his wand rapidly but Minerva stepped in. They fought resulting in the twins being knocked out and Severus leaving through a now open window. "COWARD!" Her voice broke through.

"The dungeons will do." Cheering erupted through the remaining students and Alice felt a smile tug at her lips for the second time since her father had died. "Potter I assume you have a very good reason for returning. What is it you need?" Deep breaths came from Harry but he only thought for a second. "Time. As much of it as possible." Minerva nodded but didn't change her gaze "very well. I will do my best." Still she watched as Harry turned but her voice stopped him and made him turn around "Potter. It's good to see you again." Her voice was soft and like the one that was common for Alice to hear before Voldemort returned. Minerva turned and kissed the top of Alice's head. "I would ask that you and the twins go where we talked about when this time arrived." No thought was given as she grabbed the boys hands and dragged them behind her. "Fred, George. Don't die." They smirked and made no promises. George slightly kissed her on the lips but there they stood and began warding the part of the castle that they were asked to work with. Alone the three stood, ready to defend their home.
