Alice stood in the hall amongst the dead. Rather than celebrating like people would expect she was sobbing. Sobbing for the friends she had lost. Remus, Tonks, Fred, Colin. "Alice." George was holding onto Ron as they cried their eyes out together. Minerva and Poppy were walking towards the girl who just looked empty with a constant gleam in her eye. "Maw, Mamma. Tell me something good. Don't tell me that anyone who isn't in this room is dead." The look of despair made the two saddest most of all. "Come here." The three embraced as they let the day sink in. "That could have been me. It should have been me." Alice cried onto their shoulders as they rubbed her back and stroked her hair. "What do you mean, should have been you?" Poppy asked in confusion "Fred had so much going for him. He brightened peoples lives." Poppy shook her head disapproving of the statement. "As many daft things as you have done. That is a lot. You are still a ray of fucking sunshine." The obvious reference to Alice made her feel a little joy.

Alice stood in the staffroom when Severus walked in. Her feet carried her to the door. "Not leaving because of me are you? I thought that you would be joyed to see me." His deep tone made fury boil her blood. "You're right. You're a ray of fucking sunshine." Her feet carried her to the door where she left.

"George. Have you seen the dress I brought yesterday?" His ginger head popped out from the kitchen area. "Yeah. You left in in here." She swept in and picked up the dress. "Thanks." A kiss landed on the side of his mouth. "I was lead to believe that you were only teaching there until they found a new professor." Alice left the bedroom where she had dressed in the short blue dress. "So did I. Then she told me that a new head of house was also difficult to find. I do such a 'splendid job' apparently." She waved him goodbye and apparated from the small house above the shop to the gates of Hogwarts. "Hagrid." Her polite voice greeted as she shut and resealed the gate with a spell. "Gerd mornin' Alice." He greeted just as warmly. "Yer mam 'as been lookin' for yer." Alice bowed kindly and walked up the long winding path. "Professor Weasley!" An excited first year greeted, to which Alice smiled and waved. The walk to the headmistress's office was a familiar one that she loved.

"Mamma, Dad." Her small wave caused one to be returned from them also. "You were looking for me." Alice announced expecting to be told that they found a new teacher for her place. "I would prefer to be honest with you. You and I both know that I wish for you to be permanent hence I haven't been active in my search. So now I ask, do you want to be permanent?" Alice never asked the question. At first she didn't want to be permanent but she was used to only being able to talk to her father and with that she saw no reason not to be permanent. "I mean. I would like a job, to keep me busy. It would also be nice to see you and the other professors all the time. I suppose that I would." Minerva smiled and Alice did too as she left the office. After an hour of paperwork Minerva was interrupted. "George and I. We talked and he is more than happy for me. Well I, just, we want to buy a house in Hogsmeade but the only one big enough is your old cottage. I just wondered if you wouldn't mind us going for it. If not we can wait six months and buy another one but I have fond pictures of you, me, your brothers and their kids. I just wanted to go for it." Minerva thought about the fond memories before speaking with no doubt "only if I can visit regularly." Alice nodded before hugging the woman and going to leave. "Why do you wish to move?" Suspicions were had but nothing proven. "Well, you see. George and I have been married for a long time. We-I give up. I am pregnant." A knowing look passed the older woman's face. "I am over halfway through. I suppose Maw aught to know." Albus found a tear running down the portrait. "I never thought I would live to the day of being a grandfather. I was right but it doesn't matter."

"Maw?" It was a question but Poppy wasn't sure what she was going to say. "Yes Ali cat." Poppy and Minerva were always like the parents and after Albus they stepped in to act like a married couple. Even the odd bickering. "Well, you see. I am." Alice huffed and Poppy raised a brow in question. "You gave me 'the talk' and well you told me a result of those actions right." Poppy was curious as to where she was going. The room was empty for once and so Alice just blurted it out. "I am over half way pregnant." Poppy found her eyes going wide with shock then back to normal. "So, silver or ginger?" Alice laughed at the ludicrous comment. "Both." She retorted.

*12 years later*

"Minerva Poppy Weasley." The deputy headmistress announced and soon a shy silver haired girl sat nervously on the stool. Alice winked as she placed the hat onto the girls head. It took a moment then it blurted "Gryffindor" the silver hair was caught in the wind as she quickly made her way to the table of red and bravery.

"We are going to have fun." Alice informed the two women either side of her. "She has a little of all of us in her." Poppy proudly stated but there was obvious humour. "Oh dear. We will need it. Look." The girl was sat with a Potter and it was obvious that something bad was bound to happen eventually. "It might be fine. But, I will keep George from giving her any of his pranks."

The end.
