The whole holiday certain staff members would run off and Alice would be left with her own thoughts. Albus was so busy planning and working but still he made time for his daughter, more than could be said about Minerva. They both felt awkward. Alice had apologised and so Minerva knew that it was up to her but she didn't know what to do. She was at a loss. When the three sat at the table to eat Alice would talk a little with her father but she spent the rest of the time getting ready for the exams coming up. One day Albus had to finalise something and so didn't show, when Alice heard this she didn't want to put pressure on McGonagall so didn't even turn up. Alice hadn't actually eaten for a while as she would read at the table instead so she was hungry but pretended not to be. This was the last straw for Minerva. "Ali. Ali big girl." A shy silver blob came from behind one of the book shelves. "What are you doing here? It is dinner." Alice heard the command and so placed her book back and headed to eat. "You are stubborn, determined..." The sentence stopped when Alice interrupted "if you wish to insult me I do not wish to eat with you." Her tired eyes showed stress and she looked bored. "Severus does that. When he feels a strong emotion he covers it with tiredness, boredom and grumpiness. I was going to tell you that I love you for it. As annoying as it may get, I would never ask for you to change." Alice met her eyes with the only other person in the room. "I am sorry for being silly. I was doing what I was claiming you were doing. Being stubborn." Alice laughed and let her head rest on the left shoulder of the professor. "Thank you." Small thin lips kissed the silver hair as they sat together again. "The Quidditch game..." Minerva cut her off quickly "don't worry so much."
The hall was loud and obnoxious just as it usually was but there was a secret that only the staff and Alice had known. That was until the stunning performances had been shown off from the two other schools. "Got a plan?" Alice asked when the twins had turned to their book of pranks. "Oh yes. Simple and yet so much more." Her smile was hidden by a small hand. "You still look paler than before." The voice of Hermione stopped the smile that had once taken over Alice's face. "I guess I never will." Her voice signified that her thoughs were miles away in a land that she had created all in her own way. A beautiful place of her own imagination. "George, I need to show you something later." His mouth was filled with chicken just as Ron's was but still he agreed with his excited eyebrows. "Stop. You know how silly you look." The enjoyment had returned to her voice and so he did as he was told. He stopped.
"So you wanted to show me something." George had taken the fifth year by surprise and pinned her against a wall in the common room. They were relatively covered by their surroundings but it didn't matter as everyone else had set themselves in their rooms and began speaking of their holidays. "I, well you know what happened. I am stuck with it forever." Her long baggy top was lifted and the scars became visible. Scratches and teeth had left their mark as red scars shone back into the delicious eyes of George Weasley. "I am so sorry." Her tears traced down her face but his hands placing themselves onto her stomach sent terrified shivers down her spine. "Don't be sorry. You are still just as beautiful. You just have some stories to tell." The top was pulled back down and she felt his arms wrap around her making her enter his warmth. "Now, you are due to get a letter to tell you to visit your father any second. I will wait with you till that happens." She nodded and also submerged the desire to kiss him into her heart deep down but this all released when he kissed her. They didn't get a chance to for long though as a letter landed on her head. "Must be off." Her singsong voice spoke as she headed off. Her shorts were just as short as usual but the long top that she wore covered more of her stomach than it usually did. "George. I don't want anyone to know. Even Fred." His ginger locks nodded and his brown eyes glistened with a wink.
"Alice." Poppy spoke gleefully as the pale girl walked in with a smile on her pale face. "You look just as pale as, when, well. Did it all heal up alright?" The concern and worry had woven its way into her voice. "Yes, all like before." Rolanda was less easy to please though "you and I pared your pyjamas. That top doesn't go with those shorts." Alice just shrugged and turned her attention to something else. "Dad, I wondered if you wouldn't mind me joining the quidditch team this year." He looked into her eyes but as his mouth opened to answer another voice spoke in a Scottish accent "no, too dangerous. You die I mentally, if not physically die." Minerva was certain and a smile matched blue twinkling eyes as Albus finally spoke "couldn't have said it better myself." Alice sat on a chair by Moody. He had always seemed creepy to her but she knew him to be a good, well trained man. "So, Professor Moody, how come you are teaching here this year?" Alice was curious and didn't fancy sitting in silence whilst others spoke. "A favour for an old friend." His constant drinking was a massive down side to talking with him as it infuriated her to no end but she sat and did what she had to do. Eventually the conversation was kindly interrupted by Minerva "Alice. You will not even attempt to enter the tournament will you!" It was a demand and no question was actually asked. "I Alice Minerva Dumbledore promise that neither I nor anyone that I have a knowledge of will place my name in the cup. I am willing to make an unbreakable vow if needed. After my past few years I see no reason to put myself in danger." Although over the top a little it pleased all of the professors who were concerned by this fact.
