MARC'S POV

It was now New Year's Eve. Sam and I were sitting on the bed in the guest room. None of us had seen Sam's father since Christmas. He had called Sam a few times but I always answered and put it on speaker so he would know not to say anything out of the way to her. After about three calls, I guess he figured out I was not going to back down and he stopped the calls all together. Not that either of us were complaining. My parents had a long talk with me and Nick about our behavior at Christmas. They lectured us about how we should respect our elders and how it was disrespectful, not only to Greg, but to Sam, Aaron, and everyone else who was here. Me and Nick just nodded and went on about our business. I don't think either one of us intended on backing down if Greg showed his face again. I couldn't exactly tell them why I hated the guy so much considering I told Samantha I wouldn't tell anyone. I really hated that the bastard wouldn't be punished for what he has done. I kept telling myself that Sam would eventually tell someone else so he would finally get what he deserved. I could tell Samantha was worried. She wouldn't really talk to me completely about why but I was pretty sure I knew. Christmas break was almost over which means Aaron wouldn't be here much longer. That means she wouldn't have an excuse for Greg as to why she wasn't coming home. Sam and I had a deal that I wouldn't say anything as long as she was here. She is worried about how to keep that promise without her father knowing I know about everything. I may not be a genius but I know that much. I decided not to say anything to her about it. I would wait until she was ready to tell me herself. She was constantly trying to crack the code on her mother's journal also. So far, she has had no luck. Her father kept asking about it when he would call. I had a feeling there may be something in there that Greg doesn't want us to know.

"This is useless! I have tried everything!" Sam sighed in frustration after her last attempt at cracking the code failed.

"Calm down. We will figure it out." I reassured as I looked at the list of passwords she had already tried.

"It would be tough enough if it was only a number password but there is also letters! Not to mention, we don't know how long the password is!" She argued in defeat.

"I am going to help you. We will figure it out. I promise." I said grabbing her hand in reassurance.

"I hope so." She said as she placed the list and Journal in the drawer of the bedside table.

"Hey guys!" Missy called from the door of the guest room. Her and Jasper had wasted no time in questioning us about Christmas the next day. Sam and I had been quite successful in dodging the questions up until a couple of days ago. I just simply said I didn't like the guy because I got a weird vibe from him. They seemed to accept that answer and we were grateful.

"Ello ol' chap!" Samantha teased and walked over to Missy and Jasper who gave her a smile and hug in return.

"What are you two up to?" Jasper asked pointedly. Jasper and Missy seemed to think we were dating but hiding it. Not that I wouldn't like to be with Sam, but at this particular time, we weren't.

"We were trying to crack the code on her mother's diary. No such luck." I said shrugging as I headed over to give Missy a hug.

"Where is my hug dude?" Jasper asked expectantly as I went to step away.
