P:    They have come back and given me peppermint juice from the mint leaf. It was bitter and to tell you smelt of my father’s socks. Yet I still drunk it. After I felt a lot better, my mind became clear and I could start to taste things again, properly. Ray came and visited me, we talked for a while and then we just stopped. He smiled and I blushed. “You are beautiful, I am so glad that you didn’t die. I would terribly miss you. You are my only friend.”

“Thank you, I would have missed you too. In my heart if I would have died. Jacki hates me now. I was mean to her, I wish she would come back.” I muttered.

“What happened Taji?” Ray asked.

“She would lie in my bed with me and just talk, then I said ‘Geez… Jacki, you can take a break, I don’t think your presence is going to cure my pain.’ then she said, ‘I was just… trying to help. I’m sorry if I am such a distraction to you.” She then left.” I shook my head just hating the thought.

“I am so sorry, I will ask her to come and see you. I’ll tell her that you are upset and hate yourself for being a stupid friend?”

I nod, “Thank you Ray.”

He comes and hugs me, “See you soon and hopefully Jacki too.”

He exits and I just stare at the ceiling hoping that Jacki will forgive me for being very dumb.

Later that day the doctor tells me that I am free to go, I can stay for a couple of more nights if I want to. But that I am free to go home. I nod and smile, “I think I will go home Melissa!”

She nods, “Sure, let me sign you out.”

She writes on a paper and helps me out of my bed, “Here are your clothes, you can change in that room there.” She points and I go over and into the room.

I change into my jeans and singlet. I walk out and down to the hospital exit. Until I hear a scream.

E: It is Jacki, she was obviously coming to visit me because she is only a few metres away from the hospital entrance. I run over to her and as I am running my heartbeat grows and my palms get sweaty. I don’t want to know why she screamed but of course I go over to help her.

“What’s wrong Jacki!” I yell.

“AGH! Get it OFF ME!” She screamed. She was pointing to her leg. I pull up her loose blue track pants and find a tarantula crawling up her leg.

“Geez! It’s okay Jacki, it’s harmless.”

“It’s a tarantula! For all we know it could be a vicious, blood-sucking, demon killing, tropically diseased, rabies infested, poison machine tarantula thing.” Shouts Jacki. I pick it off her leg and chuck it in the bush. “There, now calm down.” I say

“Yeah, but like what if it like, bit me!” She exclaims.

“Well, does it hurt anywhere up your leg?” I say.

“No.” She replied. “Please just check it.”

“Ok, OH MY GOSH!” I scream

“WHAT!” Says Jacki.

“There’s nothing there, but heres a little plaster for your ‘boo boo’, and some tarantula bite healing cream.”

“Gee thanks, I appreciate it.” She says. We both start laughing and walk off down the concrete, pebble path. I think whatever that little argument was, we left in the hospital room, and we giggle all the way home.
