Forgetting Geromy

:  I see him that night, Geromy. I woke up from being hurt and father was their. So was my sister, they sat their crying. When I woke they looked at me and sigh. I was telling them I was fine but they thought otherwise. I got up and ran, my feet slapping down the hallways. I finally reached his room, he stood their. Looking at me, the light glowed on him. I ran to him, reaching out. His voice broke the silence.

“You can not come back”

Then he disappeared.

I woke up in the tent sweating, I was facing away from Ray who I could feel behind me. I turned and saw him, Geromy. I got up. “Geromy?”

“Yes, it is me. You still dream my dear.”

I grab his hand, “I am trapped, is this really you?”

“Yes, somehow when I sleep and you sleep we come to a place together.”

I hug him, “I am so sorry. How is my father, sister? I miss you badly, I miss everyone. Whats been happening and why can I not come back.”

“I missed you too, I will tell your father and sister that I spoke to you. Your father grieves a lot and your sister misses you terribly. She is growing weak because she starves herself.”

I but in, “Tell her to keep eating. She will see me soon. I love her, please tell her that.”

He continues, “The kingdom have made your room bigger, their are flowers placed everywhere. You are in your favourite ruby gown and red slippers. You crown is place on your head and you hair has been made wavy. It waves down. The window is behind you and the lights glows down on you. Everyone grieves over you, they loved you. You were fair, kind and just a good leader. They miss that.”

Geromy stops.

“Geromy?” I ask

“It is time I leave. My heart can not stand to be here any longer. It burns terribly.”

His hand touches my cheek and holds it their, a tear rolls down my face and drips onto the tent.

“I miss you Taji. I will find a way for you to talk to your family. I miss you and I will tell them that you love them”

Just like that his hand leaves and it tingles. He is gone, my heart shatters and then I wake up.

 

E:   I feel Ray behind me this time and i turn to face him again. He is awake.

“Are you alright Taj?” He asks.

“No. I need some some fresh air.” I reply.

“I’ll come outside with you. Did you have a nightmare you’re hot and sweaty. Have you been crying Taj!?” He asks nervously.

“Yeah I had a nightmare but no I haven’t been crying.”

“Huh...that’s weird. I could’ve sworn I heard you crying.” He replies. Maybe I have been.

We unzip the tent and step outside into the freezing night air. He wraps his arms around my and puts warmth through my body. I decide to forget about my relationship with Geromy. If I am never going back I might as well live a full life here. It’s hard to let go, but as of now, I have to. I look up at Ray. “Ray, I think I am in love with you.”

“You think?” He asks.

“No, I know I am in love with you.” It’s weird to hear those words coming out of my mouth so I try them again. “ I love you, I love you, I love you!” I feel as though I have just been put on laughing gas. I stare up at him patiently. “I am in love with you, too. I have been ever since I laid eyes on you.” He replies. We hug for a long time and when I open my eyes, Meki is standing behind Ray.
