P:   He quickly closes the door and then fumbles around the bathroom. I shake my head to get rid of everything. I walk to the living room and look around. It looks pretty basic, just a normal room. I then see a dent in the wall, I walk over and touch it. Suddenly the whole room lights up and something falls from the roof. Once it hits the ground, the lights turn off and it is dark once again. I walk slowly over to the piece and see a heart. It is made out of glass but didn’t break. I pick it up and see an engraved piece of writing on the back.

Ray + Taji

Forever

I put a hand over my mouth and gasp. He made this for me, it was beautiful. The complexity of it was just amazing and overwhelming. I slide it carefully into my pocket and hear a click of the door.

“Taji, I am ready. Sorry about the thing just before.”

I blush again, “Thats okay Meki.”

I start to walk out when he grabs my shoulder, “Ray wanted me to give you something.”

He gestures me over and then stands next to the dent. I start to freak out, I had already found it. I start to panic, what if he finds that it was missing.

“No!” I whisper.

“What was that?”

I shake my head, “Nothing.”

His finger slides over the wall until he finds the dent. He pushes it and then the lights flicker on. Something drops from the roof and I sigh. The lights turn off again and Meki goes and picks it up.

He looks at it and smiles, “Here Taji”

“Thank you, wait. Who is this from again?”

“Ray.”

“Oh.” I smile. I turn the glass heart over and see the words graved into the back. It read.

Ray + Hayley

Forever

I drop the heart and it shatters. I run out of the room and into the day.

“Wait, Taji. Don’t you like it?”

“I do, but. That is to Hayley.”

His mouth drops open, “What happened to yours?”

“I don’t care. It obviously isn’t me and him. It is Hayley and him. Tell him I never want to see him again!”

I run off, tears running down my stained cheeks.

Hayley stops me, “Taji? What is wrong?”

I stop and turn to face her.

“Ray made me a heart. A glass heart.”

Her face drops, “He did…”

“Yes, but instead of saying my name it said yours!”

“Oh, I am so sorry about that. I don’t know why he would make a heart for me though. I never liked him but he did tend to follow me everywhere a lot. Before you arrived.”

I smiled as I realised the heart in my pocket.

“Oh, Hayley. Thank you, you reminded me of something.”

I turn and run, Hayley calls after me. “I hope I reminded you of something good.”

I blink back tears f joy as I run back to Meki.

“Meki, I am so sorry. I just remembered that I had this.”

I pulled out the glass heart and showed him.

“How did you get that Taji?”

“I noticed the dent in the wall and went to look at it. Suddenly the light show happened and then this fell from the roof.”

I jump up and hug him, “I am sorry.”

I feel the warmth of him and I hug for a bit too long, “Lets go back to my place and get your bed ready again. I just can’t wait to tell Ray about how much I loved his gift.”

I skip and twirl and jump the rest of the way, while Meki trudges along, miserable.

I hold the heart in my hand and sing the words inscripted on the back. Until the sky blackens, the thunder roars and the lightning claps down onto our small village.

E: The storm is scary, the wind is picking up and there is hail all around. I can’t sleep so I get up and turn the television on to watch the news. A news reporter in a blue suit says there is a possible tornado heading our way. I wake up Meki and tell him what I have heard. We sit on the couch at separate ends. He switches the TV off. “Everythings going to be okay.” He tells me.

“How do you know that, Meki. Plus this cottage isn’t very strong.” I say.

“You’re just winding yourself up. Go to bed and have a good sleep.” He says.

“You can’t tell me what to do!” I shout.

“Fine, but i’m going to back to sleep, so don’t wake me up again.” He fluffs up the pillows on the couch and rests his head.

“Please, I just need company. Can I take half of the couch?” I ask.

“Sure. It is your couch.” I hop on and cover myself in blankets. When I open my eyes again it is dawn.
