Everything Gone Wrong

P:     He holds a knife and it sure doesn’t look blunt.

“Ray, MOVE!”

Meki brings down the knife but Ray dodges it easy.

“Taji, you shut up or I will kill you!”

I look at Ray, Meki grabs my collar and puts me the ground. He gets a rope and ties it around my neck. He ties it around a pole and gags me. Ray looks shocked. “Meki, WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG?”

“Everything Ray. Taji will be mine and you will have to give her up or die. Either way she is mine.”

Beth wanders out of her tent and sees whats going on. I open my eyes wide and shake my head, Beth understands and runs to the storage tent.

“Taji WILL be MINE”

“No!” Ray calls and he tackles Meki to the ground. I watch Ray kick the knife away and start punching Meki.

“Taji is mine. She doesn’t love you and never has. She has never kissed you.”

I open my eyes and then close them. I wish he had put stuff in my ears too, then I wouldn’t have to hear the words Meki is about to say.

“She did kiss me you fool!. SHE KISSED ME BEFORE SHE KISSED YOU. YOU IDIOT!”

Ray turns to me and looks at me.

“Taji, did you kiss him.”

I nod.

“Did you love him?”

I shake my head, I never loved him. My feelings were just so confused, everyone was hating me and Meki was the only one who cared.

“Ray, she can’t tell you anything with the gag on!”

Beth stands their with a huge pot and Ray nods. Beth stands over Meki and bashes the pot on his head to make him unconscious while Ray comes over and takes the gag off.

“Taji, did you love him?”

“Maybe. I didn’t love him as much as I do love you. It was just that everyone hated me, I felt alone. He was the only who cared for me.”

“Unacceptable, I thought I was the only one you loved. I guess not.”

Then he walked off into the night.

E:   I feel like screaming. I love Ray more than anyone right now and I certainly don't care about Meki anymore. I run after Ray and put my arms around him. “Get off me, Taji!” He screams. He pushes me a little and I stumble back. I can’t catch my footing so I fall over, getting mud everywhere. I can’t believe it. Just when I thought I had sorted my life out I guess something else bad had to happen. I can’t hold it in anymore. I let the tears wrack my body and the coldness and darkness of the night surround me. Ray stands there shocked. He looks somewhat sorry for me. “I’m sorry Taji, I do love you. I was just in the moment and I can’t believe you would kiss him.” He Says.

“I know, but that was before I grew so fond of you. I’m telling you now I have no intentions to socialise with that lunatic.”

“WELL MAYBE YOU SHOULD’VE TOLD ME THAT BEFORE.”

“If you can’t handle me at my worst, you certainly don’t deserve me at my best. Now if you don’t mind.” He pulls me back.

“But I understand you were alone, I know you love me okay. I’m trying to apologize here, but someones being a lit--!”

“STOP! Just stop yelling at me.” I wipe my tears away and rip myself from his grasp. Yes I do love him but it is hard to love someone in this life. It is challenging but rewarding. I just need some time. He looks so disappointed. And that’s what upsets me. I never wanted to hurt him and that’s when I decide it needs to happen. No more distractions. We need to run. Far away from the tribe. I stare at him and he stares back. There is desperation, love, longing and sadness in his eyes.
