P: We talked about life, mostly. I said I loved this surprise about the cave and that I hated Rowan. I could forgive him just never like him again as a friend. Ray held my hand and dangled it above the water, I smiled. Heat spreads across my face and I look away. I see at the back of the cave a small tunnel entering the rocky cliff.
“You ready for an adventure?”
“Adventure, Taji really. You nearly just died and now you want to go exploring. You are one tough cookie man.”
I smiled, “You too. But! Only if you come.”
He sighs, “Fine. Where too though. I know this jungle inside out.”
“Yes, but do you know this cave inside out.” I point towards the cave door and run out of the cave.
I come back with a torch and some food. “Ready?”
“Ready as I will ever be.” Ray holds my hand and we walk towards the door together.
I flick the torch on and it beams a solid light down the tunnel. A few bats fly out and it gives me a fright. We continue until we reach a room and their in the middle was a huge pile of bones.
E: I scream and Ray looks worried too. He walks up to the pile of bones and picks one up.
“Eww! Don’t do that! You dont know what kind of diseases could be on that thing!” I yell.
“Hmm. This doesn’t look like a human skeleton to me. It looks like some kind of large animal skeleton. And from the bite marks on various parts of the bones, it looks like something even bigger has killed it.” Explains Ray.
“Ray, I don’t like this anymore can we please get out of here.” I say quietly. I hear a huge growl close by. It takes me a few seconds to recognise the sound and when I do I am praying that it was just my ears playing tricks on me. But no, Ray heard it too.
“Taji, run, run, NOW!” He grabs me by the arm and practically drags me behind him. We sprint down the cave tunnel and I can hear it’s paws slapping across the ground. I flick my eyes back and I have affirmed my suspicions. There is a wild Jaguar chasing us. There is only a few metres to go until we reach the water and we can jump in to get away from it, but with it going that speed i’m not so sure what will happen. We are only a couple metres away and we are about to jump into the water and out of the cave when the Jaguar catches up. It rips through a layer of Rays skin. He groans and I scream. For the second that the Jaguar lets go we leap into the water. We swim across to the others side and Ray sits down on the rocks groaning. Everyone comes over, even Rowan and Mason. They must have come back while we were in the cave. Ray is white and shaky. I look down at his ankle. I can see bone. The cut isn't bleeding too bad and it isn’t big. Just deep. I am mostly worried about infection. I gag at the sight and I know we have to get back to camp ASAP. But how are we going to do that with all our stuff and a 20 minute tramp back. I am so scared for him. I squeeze his hands as Hayley sends a message by bird to the hospital.
