they walked towards the yard which was now filled with inmates. There were four projectors out in the yard placed so that they formed a cube as the inmates placed their mattresses in the space provided. Maritza and Flaca found a place in the center so that they were surrounded by the projectors.
"right on time"
Flaca says as she plops on the mattress. they started watching the comedy movie that was playing "white chicks" and after watched a romantic movie "the notebook"
"babe, are you crying?"
Maritza asked taking one of her earbuds out and looking at the Latina who was resting on her chest.
"no"
Flaca says as she sniffs removing tears from her cheeks.
"awh you're crying"
Maritza squeals as she shifts her body weight so that she's on top of her and finds tear tracks on her cheeks.
"you know how sensitive I am with this shit"
Flaca says defensively letting out a scoff.
"yeah, I know"
Maritza says tilting her head to one side finding the sensitive Latina adorable.
"how about we go for that walk?"
Maritza suggests breaking eye contact and biting her lower lip.
"yeah, yeah let's go"
Flaca says rubbing her eyes and letting out a sigh.
They both got up from their spot.
"you think they'll steal our spot?"
Maritza asked as she slightly twitched her lips to one side.
"nah Gloria is right behind us we'll just tell her to keep an eye on it"
Flaca says walking towards Gloria.
"hey-uh we're going for a little walk, to stretch our legs, can you keep an eye on our spot?"
Flaca says as she looked towards Gloria who knew what the walk was for.
"they fucking"
Daya remarks with a snarky grin on her face.
"yo, shut up and leave them be"
Blanca says shooting glares at her.
Flaca just rolled her eyes and looked back at Gloria.
"of course, go on"
Gloria says giving both of them a playful wink.
they both started walking on the side of the yard, slow steps. fingers linked together as their hands swung back and forth.
"it's nice out here at night ey?"
Maritza says looking up to the sky covered in tiny stars.
"you love stars don't you?"
Flaca says letting out a giggle.
"yeah I do, I love the thought that some of these dots in the sky are actually other planets and that some of them are already dead, but the light is still traveling. It's like looking in the past, how they used to look when they were alive."
Maritza says still looking up in awe.
"yeah, it's kinda satisfying isn't it?"
"and soothing"
