your father had just passed away. you did feel a little sad, he was your father after all and you would not have a soul if you didn't feel a single thing. however, you would probably be outright depressed if your dad had been around all your life. he was there when you were younger, but eventually he began leaving for longer periods of time. he had never forgot about you though, sending cards or gifts on holidays and occasions. but what you had really wanted was to see your father again. and now he as dead, and you didn't know how he died. you could only guess since he never updated you about his life or health. cancer, an accident, old age perhaps? that last one was a stretch but you didn't have any other idea.

what you did know was that your father was some kind of businessman and he had left you a huge sum of money after he passed. here you were looking at the official piece of paper, your name and address at the top, the contents telling you that you now had 10 billion won (approximately 9.5 million us dollars). you were appalled and since you were his only child and there weren't any relatives, your mother having died a few years ago, you didn't have the slightest idea of what to do with the money. you didn't even want it.

the letter was in your father's words. he had specifically told you not to tell anyone about the money or where it was. he told you the location of this cash, having a secret vault somewhere in south korea. reading his words, there was a pang in your heart. you longed for him and now he was gone forever.

you didn't think anything of the money. you didn't want it maybe, but still it was a large chunk of money, of course you were going to keep it. you memorized where the money was and the password he had left if you wanted to retrieve it. then you burned the letter. and you haven't told a soul. things went on like normal in the next few days. you went to work, hung out with your friends, nothing out of the ordinary happened.

except for this very day. you were walking home from your office. the weather was calm but cold and the night was dark. you were used to walking home this late at night by yourself, but there was a new feeling. a feeling that made your senses heightened, giving your stomach an anxious twist. it caused you to constantly check if there was someone suspicious tailing you or weirdly walking next to you across the street. every time you found that there wasn't anyone or anything suspicious around you. you thought to yourself that you were just being paranoid.

but suddenly, someone hand formed an iron grip on upper arm and yanked you away from the sidewalk. they pulled you into an empty alleyway, three walls of buildings surrounding you, very cliche to say the least. you barely let out a frightful scream before a gloved hand covered your mouth. because you were so worked up, it was hard to breath without your mouth. you felt so scared, so frightened about what was going on. you were practically hyperventilating into this person's hand. "stop moving." he demanded with a ominous voice into your ear. you wouldn't have followed his demand if it wasn't for a knife tip pressing into your stomach, not stabbing but threatening to. so you froze, trying to calm yourself down as your head began to throb.

"good girl." you cringed at his words. "now, tell me."

you couldn't speak very well but you sure tried, any effort to get you to leave with your life, even if your voice was muffled with his hand. "i don't know what you're talking about."

"you know damn well what i'm talking about. everyone knows now."

you shook your head just has he pushed his knife even further, the blade on the brink of breaking through your skin. tears formed in your eyes, spilling one by one and falling down your cheeks. i'm not getting out of this, you thought, i'm really going to die like this.

but to your surprise, someone appeared at the end of the alleyway. you met his eyes, the rest of his face and body being covered by black clothes. you thought that he was an apprentice coming to help take your life over something you didn't have the slightest clue of. you really didn't have an idea. but then, bellowing in a deep voice, this unknown figure demanded, "let her go."
