#65. "how did it take me so long to realize?"

#69. "f-fuck."

#71. "we were just joking around, right? please tell me you knew that."

you hummed a slow tune as you stepped out of the taxi. wind immediately swept your hair around, brushing back your hair. you had just got off of work. you decided that perhaps you would surprise your boyfriend, especially since you haven't seen him in so long. both of you had been busy, and hardly had any time for each other recently. you missed him dearly. texting - although they were already short messages - just wasn't enough.

as you began to hum another random tune that popped into your head, you approached the apartment building, standing in front of a square with a bunch of buttons. you buzzed the button near the top, with a label above it that read "jeon jungkook". you stared at your boyfriend's name, your cheeks reddening slightly at the thought of the love of your life. you waited, averting your gaze down at your work pants, then to the bushes outside of the building. there wasn't any noise.

you wondered, perhaps he was busy, or he wasn't home. but you had a feeling he was home. that was the whole reason to this surprise. you sighed, pressing the button once more, but this time much harder in hopes that it would grab jungkook's attention. still, to no avail.

you reached into your pocket to pull out your phone. just as you were unlocking your phone, you heard the door next to you open. you turned and saw an older lady, an adorable, kind smile on her face. you naturally smiled, bowing politely at the older lady.
"come in, dear. don't want a nice, young fellow like you getting stuck in this horrible wind." she said in a rusty, kind voice.

you smiled, rushing inside. you turned around as you walked into the building, "thank you so much."

she nodded and smiled, continuing on her way. you turned around, now feeling your heartbeat beat rapidly with excitement, and a hint of nervousness. it feels like it had been ages since you've seen jungkook. you hurried into the elevator, hitting the correct button. the elevator doors closed with ease, and the elevator ascended. you felt your body tense slightly, your hands turned into clammy messes. you began to feel restless. you were finally going to see him. after weeks of short conversations, because both of you were busy, you and him were finally going to see each other again.

finally, after a few seconds (although they felt like minutes), the elevator doors opened with a light ding. you released a breath and walked towards jungkook's apartment. you found the right number and stood in front of the white door. you raised your hand and you knocked. the hallways were silent, enough for you to hear your own heartbeat. you raised a hand and brushed your short hair off of your forehead, feeling a slight cool breeze of your forehead before your hair fell back into place. you waited. no one answered. now you were confused. perhaps, jungkook really wasn't home.

you decided to ring his doorbell. why you hadn't done that first, you didn't know. maybe it was the fact that your mind was clouded, both from exhaustion and from jungkook. there was no answer. at this point, you were beginning to grow impatient. you had been looking forward to this all day. and you still wanted to surprise your boyfriend. there was no way you were going to call him, that would ruin it.
you sighed and twisted the doorknob, finding that it was unlocked. without any further thoughts, you opened the door and let yourself in. you had been here lots of times, it was most certainly not like you were breaking and entering.

the apartment was quiet, well, almost quiet. you could hear quiet laughter resonating from the back of the apartment, where the bedroom was located. immediately, a thick lump formed in your throat. you felt your heart continue to beat, only this time it wasn't out of excitement. it was out of nervousness and dread.
