"oh my god." you mumbled.
your eyes were wide with shock, but they quickly transitioned to anger. your mouth hung open as you held the phone closer to your face.
"oh my god!" you yelled louder.
your thumb scrolled along as you read an article that your best friend had sent you.
seokjin wasn't sure if he should ask what you were mad about. he was subconsciously stirring a pot of noodles that was going to be used for dinner. he watched with you carefully, kinda surprised but you.
finally, he cleared his throat. "what?"
you shook your head and brought a hand up to run your fingers through your short hair. it was a bit longer on the top, and cut short on the sides.
"this goddamn article."
you stood up from the couch and walked to seokjin. he smiled slightly seeing how aggravated you looked. despite looking actually very scary and intimidating, you practically being the epitome of if looks could kill, seeing you react this way was a bit amusing to him.
that's something that seokjin liked about you. you were different.
you didn't have long hair, like every other girl he's ever hung out with. you also didn't dress very girly or feminine. you looked like, what everyone else would say, a badass. you even had the leather jacket to go with your look.
you flashed seokjin the article you had been reading on your phone. you had scrolled back to the top so that he could read the headline.
seokjin momentarily stopped mixing the ingredients he had in a large bowl. he leaned over to read it better, eyes squinting slightly. you watched him carefully, anticipating his reaction.
"'a public relationship specialist claims that l/n y/n and kim seokjin are actually not as much as a perfect match as they seem to be'." honestly, seokjin began to understand why you were so angry. but there was another thing he liked about you. you never let anyone's words stop you, you didn't get emotional. instead, you preferred to confront them face-to-face.
you were confident in yourself. all your friends always claimed that you walked with purpose, with your head up high, as if you were trying to tell people who you were as a person, like as a game of charades.
seokjin shrugged, attempting to hide the tiny bit of anger that he was feeling in his gut.
you gasped. "you don't have anything to say?"
seokjin looked at you, "babe, you don't actually believe that, do you?"
you looked away, a scowl on hour face with reddening cheeks. "no."
"then you don't need to worry about it." seokjin chuckled lightly.
you sighed, bringing the phone back up to your face. you read it again, and suddenly, you were remembering your past.
you once read an article, when you first started dating seokjin publicly, just a year ago. it was about your style, how you only looked like you would cause trouble, like you would only cause problems for seokjin, become a burden to seokjin. they criticized your not-so-feminine look, how you were always seen with dark clothing and makeup. how you looked intimidating instead of cute or preppy.
that article hit you hard, but it was only because of all the things that had happened to you in the past.
you had a rough upbringing. you would rather not remember it, because most of the time it only brought your mood down, but sometimes it also reminds you of how you became the person that you are today. everything that had wronged and hurt you, everyone that had stabbed you in the back, all of that was a huge influence. and you were proud of who you were.
seokjin had been watching you while you temporarily escaped into the deep, dark corners of your brain. he gently set the knife down, he had been cutting vegetables. he quickly washed his hands before going over to you and pulling you into a hug.
you blushed, but was trying your best not to show it. you were trying to keep your composure. you weren't necessarily used to affection, so by seokjin pulling you into his embrace, you were caught off guard. you never opposed to his embraces.
"seokjin." you whined.
he laughed. "no matter how angry you try to look, no matter how much you try to show that nothing every bothers you, it's never going to stop me from loving you."
your heart began to race. "you're ruining my aesthetic." you joked.
seokjin laughed and only hugged you tightly, this time gently rocking you from side to side. you melted into his embrace. hugging him, and feeling the amount of love that he has for you, despite everything, was almost overwhelming. but it was just what you needed. that love quickly replaced the anger.
you sighed into seokjin's chest. "i love you." you said, your voice muffled by his shirt.
seokjin blushed. "i love you too."
despite being someone who was unlike most people, seokjin loved you for who you were. he didn't care that you looked scary some days, wore only dark attire (he loved the leather jacket you own tho, he's looking into buying one for himself), because underneath all that, you were someone that he loved and cherished. he admired your confidence and your ability to not let any negativity bother you. sure, he wished his fans and the public would accept his decisions and relationship, but he knew over time, things would be better.
