a/n: based off of the song water fountain by alec benjamin. the song is a lot sadder than this one shot, like the song is sad but this one shot has a fluff ending. the song didn't get finished because i wanted it to fit with the one shot (if that makes sense). but most of the lyrics are there. anyway, enjoy, lovelies!!! 💜💜💜
[2005]
"come on, jimin!" jimin's mom yelled from the kitchen. "if we don't leave now, you're going to be late for school."
jimin grinned excitedly as he put on his backpack. it was a bit large for him, but he was only ten years old. he would grow into the backpack in a few years.
jimin hurried out of his bedroom and ran down the stairs. he entered into the kitchen, earning a laugh from his mom. "you're so fast."
jimin grinned. "you said we were going to be late."
"if we don't leave now."
jimin's mom handed him his lunch box before walking to the door and handing him his shoes. as jimin put on his shoes, he began to think about his first day of school. he would get to see all his friends again, and learn new things. jimin waited patiently for his mom to put on her shoes and grab her purse. then she grabbed his hand and led him out of the house, beginning their walk to school.
"you know the way, right?" she asked him.
jimin nodded proudly. "of course, mom! we've only been walking this path since i was in kindergarten."
jimin's mom nodded and smiled. she squeezed jimin's hand as they continued to walk.
jimin hummed a song that had randomly popped into his head as he walked. still holding his mother's hand, his skipped along the sidewalk, following the rhythm of the song. although, after a few minutes, he glanced up, after watching his feet. he looked at the large park that they lived next to. accompanied by a large field, the park had a large playground for little kids, one that jimin was all to familiar with. but one of his favorite features of the park was the beautiful water fountain. it was large, and many people were able to sit all around the edge and converse, sometimes tossing some coins into the fountain and making a wish. although being so early in the morning, the fountain was empty, with the exception of a little girl.
the little girl was around his age, and she looked a little familiar. perhaps jimin had seen her around school. she had [hair length], [hair color] hair. he could see her face as she stared into the water, her hair blowing back following the direction of the wind.
the was the first time he ever laid eyes on you.

jimin's first day of school came to an end. the bell rang and all the students began packing their things. a few of jimin's friends began to talk about a new movie they wanted to see. but jimin was more focused on finding his mom. he bid goodbye to his friends, who all smiled and waved at him as jimin walked away. with a slight chuckle to himself, jimin walked outside of the school and immediately spotted his mom. "mom!" he yelled excitedly.
his mom grinned and bent down. her arms were open so that when jimin ran and crashed into her, she would wrap him up and hold him close to her chest. jimin sighed tiredly into her shoulder before she pulled him away. "how was your first day of school?" she asked.
jimin shrugged. "it was okay. i didn't learn anything. it was all about policies and rules and stuff."
jimin's mom nodded her head before standing up. she grabbed his hand and together, they began to walk the same path home. on their way, however, jimin stopped to look at the water fountain. people were there. he glanced around the playground as his mom bent down to ask him what was wrong.
