A darkness was on the horizon, and the hairs stood from the back of my neck, a shiver running down my spine. I could feel it in the air. Something was wrong. I couldn't explain how I knew, I just did. I've known things, seen things, that normal people don't. See I wasn't exactly normal. A psychic. At least that's what all my research lead me to believe I was.

The thing that troubled me most about this dark feeling, was that it didn't seem...human. I'd never dealt with anything that wasn't human. That was something that I had decided to leave for the hunters to deal with. It wasn't as if I couldn't protect myself, because I could. It was that I didn't want to get involved...again.

The door to my shop dinged, indicating I had a costumer. See I'd decided to open a shop as a palm reader. If I was psychic, why not make some money with that? As soon as this presence entered though, that dark feeling washed over me again. I swallowed thickly and slowly let myself turn around to face the front.

The moment our eyes met, I was hit with so many different emotions all at once, it was hard to process. Anger, betrayal, confusion, determination, and so much more. Suddenly, I understood. I understood where that darkness came from. And my instinct to help took over my instinct that was to fear.

"What was that?" Her voice was clear, strong and yet soothing. "You did something," She noted, and stepped fully inside, letting the door close behind her.

I took a breath. "Well...Yes. Kind of. It more or less just happened when I saw you. You're here for guidance aren't you?"

She studied me briefly. "Yes...I seek a psychic. That is what you are, is it not?"

I nodded. "Come. Please,"

She slowly came forward and I lead her to the table, pulling out the chair for her. She sat and I took my seat across from her.

"You're lucky you found me. Some psychics aren't true psychics. And others...Well...Let's just say you don't put off the best energy," I spoke.

She frowned softly. "I...I suppose it is because of who, well, what I am,"

I looked at her. "And what exactly is that?"

She took a long pause. "I am...I am what's known as the darkness. You see...Before there was anything, there was us. There was the Light, and the Dark. I am the Dark. And my brother...He is the Light,"

I listened closely, studying her. "Like Yin and Yang,"

She met my eyes. "Exactly,"

I held my hands out. "May I?"

Her gaze flickered from my hands and back to my eyes. It was clear she was wary.

"You can trust me. I'd like to help you," I assured, keeping my voice soft, not wanting her to feel frightened.

Soon she lifted her hands and gently placed them on top of mine. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes as images started flashing through my eyes.

The images were hard to explain. There was nothing and everything, there was horror, there was love, there was a millennia of being locked away and then a mark.

"You were locked away. Betrayed by your brother. The only one you had," I blinked my eyes open to find her staring at me with an intensity I couldn't quite place. "You harbor resentment. You are angry, but deep down there's nothing you need more than him,"

There were tears glistening in her eyes now. "You truly think that's what I need?"

"Yes. And I think deep down you know that's what you need," I flipped her hands up and traced over the lines on them.

"You've hurt him already, through anger haven't you?" I asked, only to receive a small nod in response. "Tell me, I'm feeling a sense of regret. Do you regret hurting him?" I continued, and tilted my head.

"Yes," She whispered. "At first...It felt good...I wanted him to suffer as I did...But now I-I don't. I just want my brother back,"

I gave her hands a gentle squeeze. "Then I think you know what the right thing to do is," I gave her a reassuring smile. "Go to him, and make things right before it's too late," I advised.

A single tear slipped down her cheek as we let each others hands go and stood.

"Thank you,"

Before I knew what was happening, she had come over to where I was and hugged me close in a tight embrace.

I returned the gesture and was surprised to find that feeling of darkness had all but disintegrated. It was as if all she needed to let go of that resentment and anger, was a little help from an outside source.

"I'm more than happy to help," We pulled away and she smiled at me, a true smile.

"You have helped me more than you could imagine Y/N," She said, and I was not about to question how she knew my name.

"I would like to return the favor, if you would let me," She looked earnest as she spoke.

I immediately shook my head. "Oh no...No truly I don't need anything in return," I insisted. "Just promise me something,"

She perked up and nodded. "Anything,"

I smiled. "Come back to visit me once in a while? It get's pretty lonely around here, and I imagine it can get that way for you sometimes too,"

Another smile formed on her features. "Of course. Until next time Y/N,"

She turned to leave when something dawned on me. "Wait!" I called, taking a step towards the door she was about to walk through.

She turned to me. "I..I never caught your name," I said, more than 99.9% sure that she went by another name and not simply the Darkness.

She hummed softly. "Amara,"

And with that, she blew me a kiss and disappeared, leaving me alone with my heart fluttering, and a feeling of peace, knowing I'd done a good deed for a misguided being.
