Ladybug’s POV
I was going to do it today - tell him. I breathed deeply. He was my partner, he loved me - he wouldn’t judge me. “Hey, Chat?” I said, swinging my legs as we sat on top of the Eiffel. “Yes, m’Lady?”
“Spots off.” I detransformed, looking into my partner’s eyes as Marinette. Cupping my hands, Tikki landed. “Oh, Chat Noir.” She waved. “Hello. I’m Tikki.”
He blinked at me. “Marinette?”
I finished, “Dupain-Cheng. That’s my name, don’t wear it out.” I joked nervously. “Why now?” His spring green eyes bored into my slate blue ones. I looked away as I answered, “Well, I trust you not to be disappointed in me. You know me the best of anyone, believe it or not - so I thought you should know all of me. But, you know, you have to keep it a secret.” He chuckled. “I know you better than anyone? Better than anyone else in Miss Bustier’s class?”
My eyes widened. “How do you know what class I’m in?”
His lips lifted into a smile. “I know you, Marinette. Under the mask, we’re distant friends.”
I giggled. “Looks like you were right after all.”
“Yeah, I guess.” His voice turned contemplative. “If you don’t mind - what’s so wrong with Adrien?”
I blinked at the sudden change of subject. “Nothing’s wrong with him.”
Chat turned me to face him. “Then why do you act the way you do around him?”
My eyes darted away. “Adrien is… he’s sweet and kind and polite to everyone - even bratty Chloe. He genuinely cares about other people, putting his effort into being nice even when his life is so sad. His dad didn’t even get him a birthday present!”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, I made him this scarf for his birthday.”
“Was it blue?” He asked.
“Yeah, it was. I signed it on the inside it with gold - Marinette Dupain-Cheng. But he thought it was from his father, Gabriel Agreste.”
“Why didn’t you tell him?” Chat’s voice held unexplained guilt and pain.
“He seemed so happy. And what's important is that it served its purpose. It was supposed to make him feel happy, and he was. In fact, it seemed it made him even happier than he would’ve been if I’d given it to him.” I gave a sad smile. “His feelings matter more than him knowing I gave it to him.”
Chat frowned.”Who’s the boy you love then?” I gave an amused smile. “I don’t think it matters anymore. Promise you won’t claw him to death.”
“Cat’s honour, Princess.”
I twiddled my fingers. “I have to go back a little. I gave you the roundabout answer- the truth is, I stutter so much around Adrien Agreste because I love him. Whenever he’s near, I can’t focus and act like a fool.” I giggled.
Surprisingly, Chat laughed. “So just tell him! I know he loves you just as much as I do.”
I raised a brow. “And how would you know THAT?” I asked. He said three simple words. “Plagg, claws in.” And suddenly Adrien is sitting next to me and saying, “I know Adrien inside out - I am Adrien.”
I stared. Then I asked Tikki, “So I’ve been rejecting Adrien for Adrien?”
“Yeah.” She responded.
“And I kissed Adrien?”
Adrien asked, “Wait. You kissed me?”
I answered, “Dark Cupid.” Tikki piped up, “Yup.”
“And Adrien makes stupid puns?”
“Yup.”
“And he loves me?”
“Yup.”
“This is a dream.” I stated. He laughed. “No, it isn’t, Bugaboo.” He took my hand. “I’m real. We’re a team. And… I want to try with you, Marinette.” He blushed.
I didn’t pull my hand away this time. Instead, I smiled back at him. “We can try.”I could not come up with a name for this one so... yeah, that's why the name's bad. But I think the oneshot itself isn't TERRIBLE and I hope you guys enjoyed. Now, this quadruple update is very sadly over. This is my fourth oneshot today, and so, I bid you adieu. I may update sooner rather than later, however... Buzzing off until next time,
