chapter 13- Two am Advice

kenzie's p.o.v

"mackenzie!"
"kenz!"
"MACKENZIE."

I heard someone banging on my window. I rubbed my eyes and groaned.

Brynn's here.

I really needed a good nights sleep and now Brynn's here to disturb me. I get up and squint in the darknesses towards my window. It's still dark outside and my crazy best friend had probably climbed up the vines on the side wall of my house and climbed up.
I opened the window to see her face, her eyes glittering with mischief against the stark darkness of the night.

"Hey." She greeted.
"Ugh come in." I muttered, half asleep.

She climbed up like a monkey and got in.

"Who's party was it today?" I moaned, getting back into bed.

"Joey birlem's. And by the way I spoke to Jacob there and he told me something very interesting." She said and I let out a groan.

She chuckled hopping into bed next to me.

"What did you talk about?" I asked, my voice sounding raspy.

"Well I knew you went on a date  with him so I asked him what happened. He told me you guys kissed. Obviously I was surprised and extremely hurt that my best friend didn't tell me herself." She informed me with a fake hurt voice.

"I was going to tell you tomorrow." I said, getting under the blankets. She gave me a  look,"Anyways that's not the point. What are you going to do about it?"

I yawn,"As much as I'd like to discuss my love life with you at  two am in the morning, I would also really like to get some sleep."

She smacked me and I let out a squeal,"OW!"
"You're telling me now whether you like it or not." She said bossily.

I try to shift over to the other side but she gripped me tightly,"Kenzie!!!"

I got up with a huff,"FINE! Listen! Jacob and I went kayaking and we were playing 20 questions and stuff-"

"Wait." Brynn interrupted me.
She straightened a pillow behind her back, made herself comfortable and gestured for me to continue.

"Okay so then after Kayaking we went and had a picnic on the beach. Oh and he also asked me if I liked Johnny." I added and Bryan chuckled," Even he can see it."

I ignored that and continued,"Everything was normal till we were leaving. I was just thanking him..you know for today.. and he..he just leaned in and kissed me!"

Let's just say Brynn's reaction was not quite what I expected.

"Oh my god! Really? That's awesome!" She squealed, grabbing a pearl white nail polish from my bed-side table and applying it on her nails in the dark.

"Um..what?"
I wondered if I heard her wrong.

She looks at me with sly expression,"Kenzie you kissed back. it's obvious you felt something."

That thought had never really occurred to me. But it still felt strange hearing her say it.
Do I have feelings for Jacob Brown?

"I hadn't really thought about it..." I gulp,"but what about..what about my feelings for Johnny?" I hushed. She set the bottle of nail polish down on the table with a sigh and then turned to me with a grim face.

"Kenzie..look. You're my best friend and if I don't tell you this no one else will. Johnny has a girlfriend now. Whatever you felt towards him needs to be put aside because it seems like that's what he did with you. That is, if he ever did have feelings for you but I'm seriously starting to doubt that sorry."

All of this sank in slowly.

When I didn't reply she continued,"Anyways. Take my advice and give this Jacob thing a chance. You might surprise yourself and actually fall for him."

I don't know what to say so I just shrugged.

"You don't have to listen to me. But just think about it." Brynn said, grabbing a pillow and fluffing it up.

I stared up at the ceiling.

"Jacob is hot as hell by the way. I mean have you seen the abs on that guy?" Brynn hushes.

I scoffed, but she was right.
He is hot.

Brynn's right.
I mean I did feel sparks with Jake.
Johnny and Nadia are a thing now and he's so busy with her that I feel like I need to move on too.
He literally told me that I needed to get myself a boyfriend.

Joke or not.
Johnny's moved on and it's time I do too.
I don't even know if he ever liked me in the first place.

"I think you're right." I admitted,"So what should I do? should I talk to-" but I was interrupted by a snore from Brynn.

She was fast asleep.
I sighed, grabbing my blanket and snuggling under it.
I'll ask the girls tomorrow what they think, I yawned and fell  into a comfortable sleep.

I dreamt of kayaks, green eyes and the sea.

I see some kacob (I'm bad at ship names) coming up ;)
