kenzie's p.o.v
After class I walk out to class with the girls. Annie told them about
me and Jake.
Ruby was devastated and spent ten minutes arguing with me, telling me that Johnny and I belonged together.
It frustrated me and I snapped at her, telling her he was in a completely different place and I wasn't going to pine after him and make a fool of myself.
Jacob was my ticket to salvation.
Falling for him could change things, and the night ease the weight on my chest every time I thought of Johnny with Nadia.
I was his number one, until suddenly I wasn't.
And now it's time for me to find my number one boy.
When we walked to the cafeteria I saw the boys sitting in a huddle, on our usual table, Jake included.
Thankfully Johnny and Nadia weren't there yet which saved me the humiliation of having to do this in front of John. He'd have a lot to say, seeing me taking Jake aside to talk.
When Jake saw me coming, he shot me his pretty boy smile and I felt Annie squeeze my hand.
"Good luck." Lauren whispered and I took a deep breath.
"Jake can I talk to you?" I asked. The girls moved away, going to sit with the boys.
I watched Annie moving to sit with Hayden and a smile crept up on my face. It's nice to see someone wasn't giving up.
"Sure." Jacob stood up.
We walked over to an empty table, and he sat down, putting his head on his hands adorably.
I sat opposite him, squirming.
Maybe I should've practiced this.
I don't know what to say to him as he gazes at me intently, giving me all his attention, despite the bustling noise in the cafeteria.
I took a deep breath, getting straight into it.
"I..really..last night was-I mean I had-" I broke off, stuttering.
His eyes shone with amusement but he kindly squeezed by hand.
"Are you saying you had fun with me yesterday?"
My shoulders relaxed.
"Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying."
His face broke into a grin.
"I'm so glad. I had a great time too Kenz," and then he paused suddenly.
"I..I don't wanna waste time beating around the bush so I'm going to be straight with you," his face reddened.
My heart started beating rapidly as he spoke, running a hand through his hair.
"I like you. I have for a while now and I wanna know if you like me too." He sounded so nervous and hearing these words coming from his mouth, Mr. handsome who had girls chasing after him, made my heart melt.
"It's just, we kissed and it was so great. And I felt like I was on cloud nine, but then," he frowned,"You..later you just seemed like you regretted it."
He grasped my hand tighter,"and I need to know, if there's any chance. If there's anything you feel for me. If that kiss meant anything to you."
It took all I had in me not to squeal.
Here was Jacob Brown, saying all these sweet things to me, things I had never been told by a boy before.
And it felt good. So good.
I kissed him and he felt like he was on cloud nine? That's so cute.
I felt so cherished in the moment and that's why I chose to go with it.
"Jake I like you. I do." I whispered softly.
His eyes widened and he looked like he was about to do a backflip.
"You mean it?"
"I do." I blushed.
His eyes fell on my lips and he seemed to be debating for a moment, whether it was worth risking, doing this in a crowded cafeteria.
