chapter 46- friENDship

Johnny's p.o.v

I got into the passenger's seat next to Hayden. Nadia and her friend, Devenity were talking in hushed whispers behind us about the 2018 Met gala outfits.

We were going to Magic fountain and there was a scowl etched on my face because I couldn't stop thinking about how Kenzie was sitting in Jacob's jeep.

Why were they so close at the diner? The memory of the way she closed her eyes and leant against him made my insides twist with anger.

Why had she gone running back to him after everything he did to her? I was supposed to be the one to protect her. To care for her.
why had I switched places with him?

"What's going on between Brown and Kenzie?" I voiced aggressively.

" Apparently hey've been talking a lot lately. I don't know. they seem close." Hayden shrugged.

My jaw clenched.

"Jealous, are you?" Hayden asked amusedly casting me a sideways glance.

"I couldn't care less." I spat as he pulled in to the parking lot.

I got off, wrapping my arm around Nadia. We walked towards magic fountain and suddenly nadia turned around and held me possessively.
I knew the reason why and my eyes eagerly searched for it.
well, searched for her.

Kenzie was talking to Minkus, her eyes sparkling with laughter at something he said.

She must have seen me in her peripheral vision because she turned around. When she caught sight of me and Nadia she looked blank for a second. She shook it off, grabbed her cookie dough ice cream and to my annoyance walked over to stand next to Jacob bloody Brown.

When she walked over, his eyes lit up and he leaned over to whisper something in her ear, making my eyes narrow to slits.

kenzie's p.o.v

Brynn and Jacob had been my support systems for today.

"Well?" Jacob asked, gesturing towards Johnny who was like three feet away with his arms wrapped around Nadia.

"I'm not going near him. He's with her!" I hissed.
"Just say you need to talk to him for a second." Brynn raised her eyebrows.

I looked towards Jacob helplessly hoping he would cut me some slack but he looked disapproving.

"Aw Jake please I can't." I pouted.

He faltered but Brynn gave me a shove.
"Jacob has no say in this. you're doing this for yourself! Jacob is just the cheater ex boyfriend."

"Ouch." Jacob yelped.
Brynn rolled her eyes and he sighed, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Yeah no she's right. I'm terrible. A way better friend than a boyfriend though, I promise." He offered sheepishly.

Brynn let out an exasperated groan.
"We can discuss Jacob's pros and cons later. For now go talk to Johnny boy!"

"Jesus alright. Hold my ice cream, this could get ugly." I handed Brynn my ice cream and she and Jake chuckled.
