Spell

Ariana's POV

Napalunok ako at pilit na iniiwas ang tingin habang ginagamot ang sugat at pasa sa bibig ni Jaxxon sa sala ko. Kanina pa ito nakatitig sakin at sinusundan ng tingin ang lahat ng kilos ko. He haven't uttered a single word since we left the jail. I was planning to take him home but my conscience told me I should treat his cuts. Although it won't help him forgive, I should still do something.

After cleaning the cut on his lips, I took another clean cotton and silently took his hand that was in a tight first. Was he trying to calm himself from punching me? Has he been silent because he detest me? Does he hate me now?

With trembling hands I tried to open his fisted hands and cleaned the small cuts on his knuckles. Ang mga luha sa mata ko ay nagbabadyang tumulo. Ayokong iangat ang tingin dito dahit ayokong makita nito na naiiyak ako.

"I'm sorry, Jaxxon. I'm really sorry for fooling you. Believe me, the potion wasn't for you. Hindi ko sinasadyang lokohin ka." I whispered sobbing but I tried to hide my face from him as best as I can.

His hands fisted again as he snatched the cotton from my hand and took the first aid kit from my lap, setting it beside him. He then cupped my chin and lifted my head.

"Fuck the potion, I still love you."

Kumunot ang noo ko at bahagyang lumayo dito. "What? Hindi ka galit sa akin?"

"I can never get mad at you for too long." He tried to reach for me again but I backed away from him.

"You're supposed to be flaring with anger. You're supposed to be threatening me and screaming at me right now. You can't still love me." Naguguluhang sambit ko.

"Can you forget about the fucking potion for once? Wala na akong paki-alam kung nagayuma ako o kung ano pa yan. Ang mahalaga sa akin ngayon ay mahal kita, Ariana." Tumayo ito at nilapitan ako pero umatras lang ako palayo dito.

"No." Umiiling na sambit ko sa sarili at tumalikod dito. "Three weeks lang ang bisa ng potion. It's been three weeks. This is impossible!"

I froze when I felt his arms snaked around my waist. His forehead rested over my shoulder as he tightened his hold around me.

"Pwede bang kalimutan mo na ang tungkol sa potion? I love you and I don't think that will ever change. At kung sino man ang gagong lalaking iyon na dapat papa-inumin mo ng potion, pwede bang kalimutan mo na siya? Please, Ariana? Pwede bang ako nalang? Can you love me instead?"

"Hindi pwede, Jaxxon. This is wrong." Sinubukan kong alisin ang kamay niya pero mas humigpit pa ito.

"I don't care if this is wrong or if this love is fake. Fuck it! Kung ayaw mo talaga sa akin, then just let me be with you. I need you. I really do."

How can I say no to him when all my defenses are already broken?

"I-Jaxxon, I have to go somewhere. Kailangan mabigyan ng linaw ito." Turning around, I caressed his cheek and looked him in the eye. "I will come back, I promise."

"I'll wait for you."

Napasinghal ako nang matusok ang braso ko ng isang matinik na halaman. I'm back at the same province where I met the witch who gave me the potion. Nasa masukal akong kakahuyan at pilit na inaalala ang daan patungo sa bahay ng naturang mangkukulam. Ilang minuto na din akong palakad-lakad hind sigurado kung naliligaw na ba ako o kung mahahanap ko pa ba ang bahay nito.

Nang iwan ko si Jaxxon kanina, dito agad ako dumeretsyo. Marami akong katanungan na kailangan nang mabigyan ng linaw. I can't wait another day. Nakahinga ako nang maluwag nang matanaw ang pamilyar na bahay sa di kalayuan. Binilisan ko pa ang paglalakad hanggang sa makarating ako dito.
