Kori POV

New Years was this week and I was at the mall searching for an outfit that I could wear to the New Years party Michael was throwing. I had gotten back from my grandparents finally and was happy to be back so I could hang out with my friends and not my annoying family.

I smiled playing with the necklace around my neck Ashton had bought me for Christmas. It had a lock and key and I hadn't taken it off ever since it arrived in the mail. My mom had asked me about it and after debating over what to tell her I finally confessed that Ashton and I were together.

She was surprisingly happy for me and commented on how nice the necklace looked on me. It was weird. We hadn't fought in weeks and the house was actually peaceful.

My stomach started grumbling so I headed over to the food court and got in line for Panda Express. The mall was packed with people spending heir Christmas money and probably buying things for upcoming parties.

The line barely budged for five minutes and I was getting impatient. Suddenly I saw Laney of all people walking up to me with a few shopping bags hanging from her arms.

"Hey Kori, I'm surprised to see you without Ashton since you two are practically glued at the hip."

Of all the people to bump into it had to be her.

"Yeah well he is my boyfriend after all." I pointed out.

I didn't know what the hell she wanted from me but I really wished her plastic ass would just leave me alone. I knew her and Ashton had slept together and she probably still had a thing for him so I wasn't her biggest fan.

"Boyfriend?" She asked again as if she heard me wrong.

"Yes, boyfriend. Maybe if you cleaned the slut out of your ears you would be able to hear."

I was finally able to place my order and the whole time Laney stayed right by my side. I had had enough of her so I finally asked, "Why are you still here?"

She tucked her hair behind her ears then took a quick glance at either side of her as if to make sure someone wasn't listening before she muttered, "Ashton didn't tell me you guys were together otherwise I wouldn't have-"

"You wouldn't have what?"

She was playing games with me and I really wasn't in the mood. I payed for my food and sat down at a table with Laney right on my heels. She sat opposite of me placing her bags under the table then rested her head a top her hands.

"I slept with him." She finally admitted.

I just shrugged as I continued to eat my rice, "I know you did but that was before we were together so I really don't care."

She shook her head, "No I slept with him the day after Christmas."

Alright this girl had officially lost it. Why would I believe her of all people? I knew she had it out for me and she would say anything to break me and Ashton up. But I wasn't that gullible.

"Do you really think I'm going to believe that trash?"

"I can prove it." She said confidently.

Now I was curious as to how she was going to pull this off.

"How?"

"I know the Christmas tree was put up in the right corner of the living room. I know his mom is in a cast."

I rolled my eyes, "Anyone can know that."

"But does anyone know about his dad?" She asked with a smug smile.
