The cell I was assigned to was the sane one from last time. It had the same moldy smell and the same leak dripping water in the corner.
The police have said that now I might actually be locked up. Given my record this was just the stunt that would keep me in here. Looks like I wasn't getting out this time.
Something slid against the floor but I didn't bother looking up. I knew it was one of the officers delivering my lunch. I had been stuck here a few days so I already knew the system. Three times a day someone would bring a tray with stale food and slide it inside.
When I first attempted to consume the slop I practically threw it up. But the fries they provided weren't that bad so I usually ate those with some milk. It's what I've been living off of and I really missed having a nice slice of pizza.
Some keys started to jingle and then the metal door slid open with a clang.
"Ashton Irwin."
This time I actually lifted my head to see a cop standing in front of me.
"You're being released."
I didn't need to be told twice, without a second thought I stood up following behind him as he walked down the hallway. I was beyond happy to get out and eat real food and to get out of the smelly jump suit.
After changing back into my clothes I was lead to the main entrance but stopped dead in my tracks when my dad walked over to retrieve me.
"Ready to go home?"
"Not with you." I responded.
He laughed lightly and handed me a McDonald's bag, "I got you out the least you could do is let me drive you home."
I ended up snatching the bag hastily digging my hand inside and stuffing handfuls of fries into my mouth. In the car I chomped on my burger not caring about the crumbs that were littering my shirt.
The ride was quiet and awkward but I was grateful that he didn't try to make anymore conversation. If he did I would probably jump out of the car while it was still in motion.
"How'd you get me out?" I couldn't help but ask.
He scratched his beard for a moment before answering, "The charges were dropped."
While in custody I remembered the guy I fought drunk and discovered that he had some bad history with my dad and his gang. He ran off after our fight and went straight to the police, that's when Calum and the crew found me. I guess he wanted to get back at my dad by locking me up.
"And you had something to do with that right?"
He only nodded and the conversation was over. My dad was very unpredictable and I didn't even care to find out exactly what he did, I didn't want to know.
We got to my house and I got out the car not bothering to exchange another set of words. The second I shut the door his car drove off and then before I knew it he was gone.
I sipped on my soda as I unlocked the door. My mom was waiting for me in the living room sat in a wheelchair.
"Mom, I totally forgot you were coming home." I rushed over to hug her.
She rubbed my back reassuringly, "It's alright darling, you had your own problems to worry about."
"I'm sorry I-"
She put her hand up to stop me, "I know it wasn't your fault, your dad explained everything to me."
"Can we not talk about him." I muttered annoyed that he always came up on every conversation.
