Anisa:
I could barely move my fingers, my throat felt dry, and I lost feeling in my legs. All of this reminded me of my dad's condition, which he had told me about, but his was worse. I can only be grateful to Allah for saving me, for giving me a fresh start, and for giving me a new lease on life.

I have to start from scratch. I am confident that everyone will be there for me, but there is one person in particular that I do not want to see me like this because once he sees me like this, I will cry. I forced him to tell me, so before I call the doctor, I need support.

How will I face everyone, including Ayman? I replied, "It felt uncomfortable, just a few days ago I was healthy, and now I am in the hospital bed, but it is all Allah's plan."

"How are you doing?"A deep, recognizable voice pulled me out of my thoughts. I turned away as a tear fell from my eyes, but I knew he was here because I felt his presence a few feet from my bed.

"I am fine," I said following a lengthy pause.
and all that could be heard while he was sitting close to my bed was the sound of beeping machines.

With a hint of hope in his eyes and a small smile on his lips, he said, "Then do not push me away even after all we have gone through, especially after what you have gone through." He had changed so much and appeared exhausted from lack of sleep, so I feel like I am to blame for it all.

We waited in silence until the nurse arrived, grinned, and asked if I needed anything. At that point, my mother came in.

****Two weeks later****
"Mom, I am finally home after two weeks," I said slowly, still unable to speak clearly.

We had a nurse who was with me full-time at the hospital; she was a nice nurse, and the doctor insisted that a nurse should be at home with me while Ayman and his parents said they came at night to visit. "Yes dear, now no more stress all you need is rest," dad said and sat next to me while mom sat on the other side.

"Please let me know if you need anything, but we will be walking with a walker in the evening," the nurse grinned as she organized some prescribed medications, and the parents nodded.

She proceeded to sit on the coach. I gave her a novel to read so she could see how much I missed those times, but I am happy I could be of assistance to her because, thank God, I recently survived a brain tumor. There are people on the streets without even parents.

I instructed my mother to take a nap, and she sat beside me as I lay there and pondered over the past twelve days, starting with the day he surprised me by proposing to me in front of everyone on that first day.

On the second day, there was another celebration. He invited some of our relatives' business partners and news reporters, who were present. He took me to the dining table, where he had placed a black forest cake with strawberries on top. He asked me if I would agree, and I said yes—but only under certain conditions. Then, when the stubborn guy won and put his finger on my finger, I could not face him.

My hair had fallen out, so I was wearing a cap. I was still attempting to walk with a walker, but it was painful for me to walk and I felt numb in my feet and legs. Nevertheless, I tried for him because everyone else who had been there for me had prayed for me.

I am grateful to Allah every day for sending me people like them.

I could not take my eyes off of my engagement ring—it was so beautiful—and a smile started to form on my lips. He is a real gem.

A knock startled me out of my reverie, and the nurse got up without waiting for me to move—it was already 5 of the clock in the evening.

"There is someone here to visit you," she said, and I was relieved that my mother was taking a break. This girl has undergone a significant amount of change, and I was not expecting to see her again after all these years, let alone here at my house.

"Why is she back, though?"I asked myself, looking at her bewildered.
