Ayman:
Just before I left for masjid, I told her that no matter what happened to her or how she looked, the more she pushed me away, the harder I would pursue her....

"She is worth the wait; she is made so many sacrifices for me," I thought with a smile. She even let me be with someone else while she was still feeling for me; who does that these days?

A voice jolted me from my deep thoughts.

"Sorry, Dad."Dad sat across from me after I had properly settled into my chair.

"Are you thinking about someone?" he asked me, grinning mischievously. "They have always loved Anisa like they are their own daughter."

"Yeah, I am just a little confused and thinking," I said, knowing that he would give me the best counsel because my parents have always encouraged me.

"Please be patient with her, as she has given so much of herself to ensure your happiness. She is truly a gem who hid her feelings for you and allowed you to be with someone else. She faces her own struggles and fears because her father experienced this twice. She has gained her speech, lost a lot of weight, and is learning to walk. We must be there for her." Her father said to me, and I nodded.

I told my dad, "I will not give up on her," and he gave me a hug in response.

His face softened and my eyes lit up as he said, "That is like my son now let us finish these paper works and we have meeting tomorrow so let us discuss on it and your mom must be waiting at home we have to go meet Anisa."

Dad's eyebrows widened when I told him, "I will not call off our engagement—in fact, I want to do a small program for her of our engagement as a surprise—but once she heals, she is mine."

"You remind me of your mom and my days, sweetie," he remarked, his eyes beaming with affection. "Your mom and I have been through so much together, but we never gave up," he added.

We reached her room and my heart skipped abit I will go crazy thinking of Anisa Astagfirullah we had ate lunch prayed asr and closed the office earlier toda by 5.30pm everyone was free to go to their fmailies and they thanked dad alot for that.

Everyone greeted her after while they went to discuss something in the sitting room.

"We will be right back,"Anisa's mom aunt Aisha said while kissing her on the forehead and left.

There was total silence none of us speaking her head which had no hair there due to chemo was now  covered with hijab. I saw her touching her hijab everynow and then.

She was playing with her fingers without meeting my gaze she stared at ring I had given her.

"Hey,"finally I greeted her and broke the silence it was hurting me that she was not the one starting conversations these days.

What happened to our friendship sometimes no matter how much we try to forget and forgive but the scar is always there....

"Mhh how are you feeling?"I asked her trying to form a conversation but she just replied in short.

"Am okey,"she replied while gathering all her romantic books and keeping them on the stool next to her.

"You know whatever happened with you or even if whatever happens,"nothing changes I will always be by your side.

"Why?"she asked as if she din't know the answer already.

She said in a broken voice, "I am not the same girl you used to be friends with. I am different now." It hurt my feelings to see her have such low self-esteem.

She sat there in silence as I said, "You are still my best friend, my fiancee, my everything. I love you the way you are there. I said it my feeling from the bottom of my heart."

"It is not right," she shouted at me at this point.

"It is appropriate because I have proposed to you and will continue to do so until you say yes; I am not sure what is stopping you."When I asked, all she did was shake her head.

What happens if I get sick again?what if I can't make it?What happens if I bore you?"I just stared at her while she asked me all of her questions.

"See, you do not have anything to say," she said as if she had won, not realizing I was not going anywhere.

"Nothing will happen to you; just say yes, please. Will you marry me?"I proposed again, this time only to her, hoping she would at least give in.

"I do not know, I am so confused," she responded unexpectedly.

I detest it when people are constantly worried about what other people will think. She asked, "What will everyone think and say?"

I tried to explain to her that it did not matter what other people thought and that it was just our lives.

ANISA:
When voices interrupted our conversation, he moved away from me and just stood there.

Ayman's father concurred with everyone, saying, "Give him a chance."

His parents were grinning and nodding at me, so how could I say no to them all? "Yes, dear, I can not wait to have you as my daughter-in-law," his mother added.

For all of them I will say yes!!just for their happiness because there is something that only mom and dad know happened in those twelve years and why I am afraid of being with any guy.....
***

I was left alone with my mother and father, who were in tears of joy.

"He is different," Mom whispered in my ear, her eyes filled with love and concern.

"Even his parents love you so much, unlike some idiots," Dad said angrily, but he quickly calmed down as he sat next to me.

"I tried to forget those twelve years, but they are like nightmares. It feels like it happened yesterday," I told my mother, who hugged me to calm me down.

I nodded as my mother tried to persuade me, saying, "He will not come back; do not worry; it was the worst phase which has passed."

I constantly run into obstacles when I try to think about moving on from painful memories and the worst of the past!
