Ayman:
"Anisa will inform you at the appropriate time, please be patient," he asked, and I simply nodded, trusting Anisa too much and knowing that everything has a reason.
"Why are you not staying?"He asked me with a puzzled expression, and I simply told him I had some work.I need to keep myself busy until the wedding; I do not want to make a decision that I will later regret.
"Sure, let me see how my daughter is doing," he said, and I nodded. We said our goodbyes, and I drove away, my mind replaying what had happened in Anisa's room.
Anisa:
"He just left without saying anything,"I whispered to mom until someone cleared his throat I was so loat in staring at door through which Ayman left until I lost track of time.
I know I told him to leave but still he could have said something.
"I know I have hurt you so much I have caused you pain which is unforgettable,"he started saying all that and it brought back painful memories.
Flashback:
He was initially such a romantic, peaceful, and loving guy who constantly showed me how special I am to him and how much I had given him of my heart until one day.
There was an odd shift in him; he began behaving strangely. Yes, we were engaged because my family in India was being ridiculed and asked, "Well, she is 22 and still single—what is wrong with her?"So when a proposal came, Mom forced me to give it a chance to move on, and she still regrets her decision, but I told her it was all Allah's plan.
We heard a lot of good things from the guys, and dad even agreed later when we asked about them, so we got engaged. It was a beautiful function that went smoothly.
"We will not disclose anything; they should not know anything about us," Hamza's father exclaimed excitedly during the function. I heard them talking but was unconcerned because I assumed they were discussing something else and left from there.
The flashback ends.
"What are your thoughts?"I shook my head at a voice that I no longer liked.
"I will ask forgiveness until you forgive me," he said, and we all stared at him. By this time, dad was also leaning against the door.
"Please leave for the time being; my daughter needs to rest," Dad finally saved me from his questions.
"I will return," he said, and we all breathed a sigh of relief as he left.
"I noticed Ayman leave in a hurry and in a bad mood; why did not you tell him anything?"Dad asked, and I remembered telling Ayman to leave, which was why he was in a bad mood.
"I could not tell him in front of Iqbal, so I told him to leave and I would explain it to him later," I explained to dad, and mom told him until he calmed down.
"He deserves to know," Mom said, and I agreed.
**At Night**
After pondering for a while whether or not to text Ayman because our relationship should be built on trust and honesty and we are getting married in three months, I gave in and wrote in our group so that I could at least stay in touch with Mayra.
"Assalamualeikum,"I greeted them both and waited for a response before going to see who was online. At that moment, they were both online.
"Waleikumsalam," Mayra responded. Ayman, meanwhile, had not yet responded and, you guessed it, was still online.Anisa, do not overthink things; just give him some time; he might be busy.
"How have you been?"When Mayra inquired, I realized that I needed to let her know about our engagement and impending marriage, and a smile appeared on my lips.
"Alhamdulillah and you?By the way, since my mother advised me to tell you directly, I would like to update you about my marriage," I typed, impatiently waiting for Ayman to at least respond to my greetings.
"I know you are much better now, so let us get together. We could go out and get some fresh air at the cafe near your house," she suggested. I was still waiting for Ayman to respond, but he was avoiding me like the plague.
"Hey you Ayman I can see you online, but you do not even bother to interact with us or read our messages?"She asked him with a smiley face, and you know what happened right away? He said, "This hurt a lot. He was doing it again. The only difference is that Mayra is married now, so this means he is avoiding me alone."
"What if both of you tell me to leave after I text them?"Upon asking, I did not understand why he wrote that at first, but then it dawned on me that he was still upset about the earlier situation he was alluding to.
I went to his private message because I know it is inappropriate, but we will just have a polite conversation.
"Assalamualeikum,"I greeted him let's see if he will ignore my salam which he never does.
"Waleikumsalam,"he replied in very short one word.
"How are you?"I started typing, curious to see what was going through his mind.
"Alright," was his brief response once more.
"I am sorry," I apologized.
I could tell he was being sarcastic by the way he typed, "There is nothing to be sorry about it is okey am just a friend whose fiance now and you are allowed to hide things from me."
