Anisa:
Have you ever been in a situation where you are not sure what to do or who to ask for help?Everything hurts because when I finally accepted Ayman's proposal, the past came knocking on my door with full force, leaving me unsure what to do.Should I tell Ayman?Mayra?I cannot trust her again, as she has never trusted me.Mom...yes, Mom, but she is so excited for the wedding, and Dad is so busy that I can not stress him out with my problems right now. They all have time to rest from all of my problems...It had only been a few hours since Ayman and his family departed for their home when I heard the phone ringing nonstop.
Iqbal was a name I had thought would help me move on, but instead of that, it broke my heart again because I had trusted someone.
He is back now? What does he even want?I simply left the phone on my bed and did not answer; in fact, I did not even know who it was.
"Anisa, Anisa! Are you okay?"My mother was running to my room when I heard her worried voice, but why was she so concerned?
"Mom, what is wrong? I am fine."She did not respond to my questions; instead, she just gave me a hug.
"What is wrong, mom? Am I okay, thank you, Allah?"Perplexed, I asked her once more.
She went on rambling, saying, "Nothing dear, I just had feeling something happened to you my heart was not at ease I feel something bad will happen." I knew her mother was worried about me after all.
"Mom, look at me," I said in an attempt to get her attention. Eventually, she did, smiling and kissing my forehead. She also prayed and said, "Ya Allah, I love my mom and she loves me more than I can ever imagine." The same goes for my dad, who is always there for me in any situation.
"It is okay, everything will work out, but I have something to share with you," I attempted to strike up a conversation, but she was already looking puzzled and dejected. I knew something was not right, and I had to let her know.
I nodded as she said, encouraging me, "Yeah dear, go on we are always with you."
"Mom Iqbal is back," I said, and her face paled and she moved back as if she could not believe what I was saying. She always regretted that one decision, but I and dad always told her it was not her fault and Allah had guided us earlier.
When I called out to her, "Mom mom," she snapped out of her reverie and fixed her gaze on me.
I gave her a hug and told her that I wished her father was here to comfort mom more effectively. "See, I told you I had that deep feeling and my heart was not at ease," she said again, hinting that something horrible would happen.
She nodded, as though she would let me work after I told her, "Let us rest then make dinner." I told her how much I missed cooking, and she seemed to agree.
****Night****
We usually have family time at night, so my dad, mom, and I were sitting in my room because it was only 9 p.m. and we had already eaten, prayed, and recited the Qur'an."How is my daughter doing?Did you go for a stroll today?I nodded as he asked in a cool, collected tone.
"Yeah, tried without the walker again," I said, smiling as it brought back memories of Ayman's concern for me. At that moment, there was a knock on the door.
"Who could be at this time?" mom inquired of her father, who occasionally holds meetings at home, but it was already nine of the clock at night.
Since it was house ring, the guards had opened the door, and we all glanced at one another.
My heart was racing; I am not sure why, but I had the feeling that this was someone I did not want to see at all. "Maybe Ayman has come. Let me just go and see," my mother said as she got up, tied her hijab, and went to the door.
My dad checked the news on the TV in my room while she was gone, and I did not really watch 5 Miscalls.from Ayman?Thank God, I mistakenly believed it to be Iqbal.
Notifications appeared on my internet when I turned it on.
Ayman:where are you?Dammit, why are not you answering the phone?I have been thinking that something happened to you, and it is been driving me insane with worry.
Another one:
Ayman:When there are people who love and care about you, at least check your phone. What is wrong?Dad looked at me and narrowed his brows, but he did not push further; instead, he just smiled. I was reading and smiling like crazy when the phone rang, so I quickly picked it up.
You think I deserve to be happy? One of the people in my life that brings me happiness is my fiancé.
I did not know who was standing at my door in my room with an evil smile and a smirk when he was greeting me. He had changed so much in the past few years, but girls should avoid him; even my dad was shocked to see him there, and my mother ran after him. I was not even able to respond to Ayman.
"Iqbal," I muttered his name as I heard a different voice calling to me from the other side and all of my memories came flooding back.
"Who is Iqbal?"I closed my mouth and eyes after Ayman's voice pulled me out of my thoughts. I mentioned Iqbal's name while speaking with my fiance.
