And I Didn't Notice

Chapter 19 (Kara's POV)

    I hardly got any sleep. Katie and I practically stayed up all night playing monopoly and talking about our lives. She opened up to me about how our relationship on her earth was strained because of my super work and Logan. I felt for her. As a parent, you shouldn't focus more on work or another child more than your own. In the moment of her telling me, I made a promise to be a better mother than the one she has.

    Katie even told me how she is actually my child as well. I was shocked, not because she is Lena's and mine, but because she doesn't have any abilities, like Logan. She is part Kryptonian, a true one, unlike Logan.

    Once we saw the sun rising we figured it was time for bed. Katie said she'd sleep on the couch but I refused. She is my daughter, in a sense, so I need to take care of her. Making her sleep on a couch wasn't taking care of her. I told her to sleep in my bed and that there was room for the both of us. Once we got to bed I was taken back by Katie once again. I figured we'd sleep on separate sides of the bed but she, she wanted to snuggle. I didn't mind. I figured she was missing her mother on her earth. My heart melted at the thought of getting another chance to hug my mother. While we laid in bed I wondered what would happen when they left to go back home to their own earth. Would Katie miss this closeness we have, like I do with my own mother?

    Anyway, our night was long but it was now officially morning and apparently, everyone was coming over for breakfast. Alex and Lena both know I cannot cook so I don't know why they agreed to this. As I got out of bed I noticed it was empty. Katie must be in the restroom, I thought. I started my way to the kitchen to only see a large sheet over my broken window from where I was taken and a note on my island. I took the note and of course read it.

"Morning Mama,

    I had an extraordinary night, truly I did! I wish I could've been like how we were, with my mother on my earth when I had the time. If you are wondering why I am not home, I am out for a run with the team. Tell Alex, Maggie, and Lena when they arrive. I bet the boys and Allen didn't leave a note. I am the smart one if you hadn't noticed. Scott is just a wannabe Winn. Don't tell him I said that. See you soon! xx"

    Great. I was alone to make breakfast. I ran into my bedroom in search of clothes. Nothing was clean since I had been distracted by being kidnapped and children from another earth that were related to me. Lucky for me, I found an outfit Alex had left. It wasn't my style, dark and leather but it was all I had and I didn't have time to waste. I super sped through the kitchen and threw what I could on the stove. I lasered the breakfast meats to speed up the cooking process. After dealing with the frozen foods I turned my attention to Alex's pants, which were the only things I had on at the moment, other than my light blue bra. They were very difficult to button and my long hair was getting in the way of my vision.

    "Damn pants! I don't have time for this!" I shouted at Alex's pants. I gave up, throwing my hands in the air in defeat. "Why can't I button these things!" I shouted once again.

    "S-supergirl?" I hear from the direction of the door. That voice...it belonged to Lena. I slowly looked up from the crotch of my pants to Lena. Shock was written all over her face. Crap.

    "Um, Lena, I can explain," I said nervously. I studied her face before saying more. Her eyes looked me up and down. I assumed it was to make sure I was really in front of her, in her best friend's apartment. She didn't say a word, she just turned around quickly and covered her eyes.

    "I am so sorry! The door was open and I figured I could come early! I didn't mean to intrude on your and Kara's time!" Lena yelled. Kara and I's time? Wait, did she think Kara and I were together! Wait! I only had jeans on! I zoomed into my room and threw on Alex's shirt. Oh, Rao, she thinks we were having sex! I ran back out into the main room.

    "You can look now," I said nervously. Lena turned around slowly. Her cheeks were red and it was cute. "Um, Kara was called into work and asked if I could make the breakfast since I am the fastest person she knows here on this earth. She just forgot that I don't know how to cook either. So, um, how long were you standing there?" I asked in a rush. Lena slowly moved further into the apartment.

    "I was here long enough to see you roast our breakfast. Um, I could help." Lena asked with a slight smile. We both moved to the stove. I sat on the island watching her fix my mistakes. "So, Supergirl. Why were you half naked in Kara's apartment?" She asked sounding somewhat hurt.

    "I had a long night and came over. She and Katie were here. They informed me further on the situation with the kids and I ended up joining them in monopoly. It ended up being too late for me to go home so Kara and Katie both insisted I stay the night. I took a shower this morning." Lena turned around to face me. I was looking down at her. Not only was I somewhat taller than her but I was also sitting on the island.

    "That sounds like Kara. I forgot you two were close. So...are you and her a couple?" She asked with hesitation. I jumped off the island and waved my hands in front of myself.

    "Oh no! She and I aren't together. We just have a, uh, unique relationship." I said with a questionable tone. Before I could continue I heard the kids approaching with Alex and Maggie not too far behind. I had to tell them my story about me being over last night so they could play along before Lena figured out I was lying. I ran towards the broken window. "I am sorry Lena! I hear trouble so I have to go. I hope the food comes out good. Tell Kara I am sorry!" Before she could say a word I flew out the window and searched for the kids, more specifically Katie. She was apart of my lie and needed to know all the details. I could hear Lena yelling in the background.

    "You forgot to change into your suit!" She yelled. Oh, I hated lying to her but this wasn't the time to come out.
