And I Didn't Notice

Chapter 23 (Kara's POV)

    I was told to stay at the D.E.O. because my injuries weren't remaining healed for some odd reason but I couldn't stay put. CatCo was attacked at that is like my second home, other than the D.E.O. Sure, CatCo didn't undergo a lot of damage but still, the people inside could've gotten hurt. Ms. Grant and James for a great example.

    I flew away from the D.E.O. and searched for Lena. I needed to make sure she was all right. Everyone else was at the D.E.O. except for her. It was late but I knew she'd be at CatCo. She was a workaholic, where else would she be? She also owned CatCo alongside L-Corp. I rushed to CatCo and quickly changed into my spare outfit. I could feel my body becoming weaker. I don't understand why the injuries Logan inflicted on me weren't healing, but that didn't matter. I searched the building but there was no one around. I then decided to go to my floor. She was mostly there during work hours anyway.

    I wasn't up for flying so I took the elevator. I could feel my blood dripping down my arm and seeping through my suit to my button up. The worst thing, Lena would think I got injured during the attack. She wouldn't want to help 'fix me up'. I hobbled my way over to my desk. I couldn't handle walking either. I sat at my desk and stared at my paperwork.

    "I can't keep doing this," I whispered to myself. I cannot keep lying to Lena. We have a kid now and from what I heard Katie yelling at Lena during my fight was that they didn't have a family to go back to. Well, I was dead and Logan's parents were as well. I didn't know if Lena on their earth was as well, Katie didn't mention. Even so, Katie needs her moms and Lena and I could be that for her! I cannot lie to Lena anymore. There is a whole super team to protect her and she has her own suit! She'd hate me for keeping it a secret from her though. I cannot have her hating me. The anger and pain became too much for me to handle so I let out a hefty roar and threw all my papers off my desk. "Damn!" I yelled. I lost my balance and fell to the floor.

    "Kara!" someone shouted. I looked up from the floor and met these gorgeous green eyes. Only one person could have such gorgeous eyes, Lena Luthor. She helped me up and leaned me against the desk. Lena delicately placed her hands on my face and examined me. "Oh my, Kara take this off!" she insisted. She began to unbutton my shirt but I stopped her. I wasn't ready for her to know. I didn't want her to find out like this. I feel so pathetic. I couldn't even stand and I am supposed to be the super one.

    "No. Lena, please, it is fine," I whispered and looked away from her. I couldn't face her.

    "Kara, please. You are bleeding. Take off your shirt and let me clean it." She said quietly. Lena walked away but shortly came back. I couldn't face her, I just couldn't. I felt shameful. "Let me help you." She said in a soft tone. I stole a glance but then quickly looked away again. She began to unbutton my shirt and I let her. There was no stopping her and I was too weak to fight her off. I felt like a fragile shell. I could feel her hands shaking. She's to smart for this drama, she has to know what I have been hiding from her all this time. I didn't notice. I knew she was extremely smart and yet I still didn't notice her slowly figuring me out.

    To my surprise, she began to button my shirt back up. She took my arm and guided us out the building. Lena was on the phone and from what I could hear, she was calling her driver. Shortly we arrived at my apartment. She helped me in and sat me down on the bed. I didn't utter a word. She undid my shirt then my super suit. All the energy I had left was used to fight back my tears. I just sat there in front of her, helpless, and just in my bra and panties. I could feel her scanning my body. Judging me. I heard her leave the room but then come back with my blanket. She gently laid me down and covered me up. She was going to leave me and I don't know why but I needed her to stay. I couldn't look at her but I needed her presence. I grabbed her hand to stop her from leaving. She understood my message and joined me in bed. I could feel her looking at me. I refused to open my eyes.

    "Sleep well...Supergirl." She whispered.

    The morning had come and it didn't come kindly. A scream ripped me from my slumber. It must've been Lena because when I woke up, I was alone in bed. Without thinking I jumped from my bed and rushed to the kitchen, where the scream had come from.

    "Lena!" I screamed but to my surprise, she was all right. She was hyperventilating near the breakfast she must've prepared but other than that she was all right. I looked around to see what it was that scared her. Instantly I noticed Logan, Allen, Scott, and Katie with face paint. Right away I didn't notice it was them. I'll be honest, they startled me. "Oh, Rao!" I shouted and quickly grabbed whatever I could which was a soup spoon and chucked it at them. The four scattered.

    "Hey!" Scott yelled. Katie, Logan, and Allen were laughing uncontrollably as they made their way to the kitchen table. I had no words to speak. I was confused. Why did they have face paint on? It wasn't Halloween and why did Logan have shorter hair. His dreads were gone!

    "Mama, why are you basically naked?" Katie asked between breaths. I looked at Lena, still unsure as to what was going on. Her eyes looked me up and down and I could see her cheeks turning a slight shade of pink. The door swung open and Alex and Maggie appeared.

    "I told you brats to wait!" Maggie shouted at the kids then brought her eyes to me. Her mouth hung open and her eyes glanced over me. Alex was the next to look.

    "Hey! Get some clothes on and stop seducing my girlfriend before I have to beat you both within an inch of your lives!" Alex screamed and covered Maggie's eyes. I looked down at myself and noticed I was in my underwear. Quickly memories from last night came rushing in. I had slight bruising and some scarring but other than that I was almost completely healed. Realizing I was almost naked in front of everyone I ran to my bedroom and got changed. Within a few moments, I came out, too embarrassed to say a word. I quietly sat at the island. Alex sat next to me and put her arm over my shoulder. "How are you feeling Supergirl?" Alex asked with a slight smirk. I jumped from my seat and looked at Lena. She looked at me for a short moment, gave a small smile, then turned back to the food she was preparing. I turned my attention back to Alex. "Calm down. The cat is out of the bag. Lena texted me last night while you were sleeping saying you were fine and that she knows who you are."

    "Uh," was all that managed to come out of my mouth. Lena walked past my sister and I and placed the food on the kitchen table.

    "Come on. Let's eat. Sam and Ruby are on the way." Lena said softly. I was confused. She was okay with it? Or was she waiting for us to be alone? Alex guided me to the table. Lena, Katie, and Logan were on one side. Myself, Alex and Maggie were on the other. Allen and Scott were at the head of the table. They offered to move when Sam and Ruby got here.

    "Wait, Sam and Ruby are coming over now?" Logan asked. Katie turned to him and had a devilish grin on her face.

    "Yeah and guess what? Alex told me Ruby is just two years younger than us. Isn't that great?" Katie cheered. I assume Logan had a crush on her on their earth. Everyone began to eat and talk amongst each other. I looked at Lena, who seemed to be enjoying herself. I couldn't help but smile. My phone buzzed in my lap and when I looked to see who it was my smile disappeared. 'Tonight we are going out and you are telling me everything.' The text said. It was from Lena. This should be fun.

    "Logan show off your new hair," Alex said with joy. Apparently, she cut his hair after he woke up last night and she was the one to paint their faces. After our short conversation about Logan's hair, we moved onto how we all understood Sam and Ruby still didn't know I was Supergirl. Then the awkward conversation opened up with how Lena found out I was Supergirl. Lena was about to explain when there was a knock on the door indicating that Sam and Ruby were here. 

    Everything was starting to fall into place.   We all seemed like a family. All that was left was to stop Ms. Scorch who was in custody again,  tell Sam and Ruby  I am Supergirl and clear things up with Lena and maybe confess my feelings for her. I know she doesn't feel the same way but I am tired of lying. Maybe I'll tell her tonight?
