Three days later
Birds chirped in the distance while the sun peeked through clouds overhead. Rain clouds threatened nearby for another heavy thunderstorm. Donnie glanced out the door and walked back in the house. He ran up the stairs and opened the first door on the right, checking on Angel. He sighed not seeing any changes today, and decided to check on the wound and stitches.
He finished his work quickly, even though he went at a slower pace in case she woke up. After, he joined his brothers, Casey, and April at the dinner table for food later that evening. Rain sprinkled lightly on the windows, and after a minute it was a heavy downpour.
Raph joined them second to last to Leo, while Mikey was running in and out past April in the kitchen, helping serve food and set the table. Casey sat at the table, watching from his seat and moving things around the table to get it out of Mikey's way if he needed it. Mikey brought out a casserole dish filled with potatoes, ground beef, corn, and topped with a layer of cheese.
April was right behind him with a dish of steamed vegetables and extra napkins. A small plate of buttered toast was placed earlier. Mikey went back in to grab some bowls and glasses.
"What do you want to drink, my dudes—and dudette." Mikey smiled.
"Just some water, Mikey." Leo replied.
"Same here." Casey said.
"Milk." Donnie spoke up.
"Water." Raph mumbled.
"What about you, April?" Mikey asked.
"I'll get mine, it's okay." She waved her hand in front of her and smiled.
He nodded and went to go get everyone's orders of drinks. The table was silent and rain could be heard starting to pour. Mikey served the drinks and everyone dug into the Sheppard's pie and veggies. It was mostly quiet because no one had anything to talk about, and because the food was so well made too that everyone was so occupied stuffing their faces.
"Were there any changes today, Don?" April asked Donnie.
"Besides one of her wounds healed a little, not much honestly." He took a small bite of food. "That other one near her shoulder is another story though."
"What do you mean?" Mikey asked, putting more vegetables in his plate.
"It opened an old wound. It went in deep enough from the front oddly enough." He ate his food.
"It's only been a couple of days." Casey mumbled. "All we can do is hope she's gonna wake up soon and be okay."
"Where's Angel's Mom right now?" Mikey asked.
"She went out of town on call for work. She said she wouldn't be back for a couple weeks or at least till we let her know it's all over." April replied.
"It's best we all lay low for a while until we know it's safe." Leo spoke up, taking a sip of his water, his eyes closed in thought.
"I agree with Leo." April nodded.
They all nodded without protest. They knew it was best to after what happened. Donnie got up from his seat excusing himself.
"I'm going to go, excuse me." He said.
He went up the stairs and opened the door to his right, closing it behind him. His eyes glanced at Angel and he sighed seeing no movement again.
After an hour or so of sitting and doing nothing, he saw her hand flinch. He got up from his seat and watched her eyes try to open.
