Chapter 8: Shatter

A/N: a bit short I guess, but this is one of my fav chaps.

They're trying to hold still and not making any noise. In the cave the only sound that met their straining ears was the echoing footsteps, getting closer and closer, until she stop.

"There you are" – Her face appears from the shadow, she got the eyes of a hunter framed in the passionless face of an executioner, try to place a dagger under Peridot's throat, but she dodges the surprise strike, it causes the boulder behind them to shatter into pieces. She was so strong, stronger than them both. It's not some normal power.

"She isn't a gem?? How can she,... with that kind of strength."

"Stay behind me Lapis, she's a human..., but this is not an ordinary one" – as Peridot noticed and pointed at the shiny thing on her ...

"Is that.. a gem?? But how??"

"No ideas, but if we choose to stay and fight, it would be very difficult to survive"

"What are you suggesting?"

"Run is the best option until we know how to deal with her..."

They turned back to the trail that had been created by their footprints, trying to flee, but Agate was quicker, stop them both in just a flick, "Going so soon?", she then charges toward land a kick in Peridot's stomach, she's holding herself together, cause Lapis is right behind.

"Oh, What is this situation, Princess Charming here has her own knight, how loyal, but you won't be together for long" – Such an evil smirked.

Agate sprinted to Peridot again, knocking her back at the wall, making her gear smashed, her demon power couldn't work in here, the only thing that was protected her is the enhancers, now it's gone.

No... dammit..

For a moment Agate was gone, she's like a shadow, you couldn't guess where she would appear next, which is kinda annoying Peridot and Lapis. "Woa, this is interesting"

"Behind you Lapis !!!"

Peridot trying to catch Agate but she dodges backward. "I guess you didn't tell your royal Knightley over here huh?"

"What are you saying, what is she talking about Lapis??"

Lapis avoided her eye contact with Peridot "It's nothing, I don't know what is she talking about". Peridot now facing her, one hand was holding up her wrist, hard, "Don't you dare lie to me."

"Hush now. A hint for you. Roses are red. Violets are blue. Don't you know what's the cause? Check all the gem that's ....." – She stopped, hand pointed at Lapis, that creepy smiled.

Gem?? Lapis still looking away, Peridot steps aside of her to examine her back. The Gem?? It seems fine??? Wait, no...

Almost perfect, but there's a little crack, you can't see it if you don't look carefully.

"You have been using your water power to cover this all the time???"

Lapis trying to form a word but it didn't come out. Looking at Peridot, who was still waiting for an answer.

"This is sweet, but I need to finish my business here soon so.."

She then disappears in again, the lack of light that had bothered them so much, but they could hear it, her laughter, across the tunnel, they look around, trying to guard each other. There was a suggestion of movement from beyond the void, inside the darkened cave. It was formless and indistinct, like a piece of shadow shifting.
