Chapter 7 - Film and Football

Tyler came down at lunch. He was actually feeling hungry for the first time since he had found out about his mum. He sat at the breakfast bar and wolfed down his sandwiches.

Do u want play a football? Asked Archie

No thanks Archie

OK. Well Finn, Alex and I are gonna have a game, if you change your mind just come and find us.

Sure thing

Tyler got up to leave the kitchen.

Tyler do you fancy watching a film. A few us are about to have a movie marathon. Asked Charlie cheerily as she grabbed a packet of biscuits from the cupboard.

There's popcorn chimed in floss rattling a big bowl of popcorn as she walked passed

Yeah sure replied Tyler and followed them into the living room. Chloe, Candi- rose, Jody, Ryan and Joseph were already there waiting to start the film. Tyler sat down next Chloe and Candi-rose. Deliberately avoiding sitting next to Jody on the other sofa.

Joseph was setting up the dvd and everyone else was helping themselves to popcorn.

Hey Tyler said Candy-rose and then she and Chloe pelted him with some pieces of popcorn.

He laughed and started throwing popcorn back. A bad aim from Chloe led Ryan to get pelted too and soon the whole room erupted into a popcorn fight.

Wow wow wow. Hold it right there cried Mike walking into the chaos.

You'd better clear every last piece of popcorn up or there will be trouble he said but couldn't help smiling

Don't worry Mike we will, just as soon as we've watched the film. Said Cand- rose putting on her sweetest smile

The film started and they were soon entranced, staring at the screen.

As the credits rolled, the group began to tidy up picking up popcorn off the floor and rearranging the cushions on the sofas.

Tyler! Tyler! Shouted Taz and Archie breathlessly as they came running into the living room. Will you play football with us, we are having a match but we need more people for our teams.

Er yeah sure replied Tyler

Yes! Exclaimed Taz. We just need two more players for my team and two for Archie's team.

I'll play on your team offered Jody

Count me in added Tyler

I'll play for Archie's team volunteered Charlie

Me too volunteered Ryan

I'll be the ref declared Joseph

They all headed outside where the others were kicking the ball about aimlessly. Soon they had sorted themselves into their teams and Joseph threw the ball into the middle of the pitch to start the game. Everyone ran around trying to get the ball. Archie's team scored a goal, but the Taz's team soon equalised with a goal from Finn. But as the game progressed Jody grew more and more frustrated. Tyler just wouldn't pass her the ball. She would shout and wave at him but he would ignore and continue with the ball even if that meant the other team had an opportunity to take possession. May Li came out to announce dinner was ready just as Tyler scored a third goal for his team. Chloe and Candi rose erupted into song as they watched from the sideline and Archie's team congratulated the winning team. But Jody stormed off the pitch. She barely uttered a word at dinner, even though the table was full of conversation about the match. Even those house members that hadn't been at the match were soon updated with blow by blow accounts from Dexter and Archie. As Tyler joined in with an account of his winning goal, Jody could take it no longer, pushing back her chair with such force that the table shook and then stalked off.
