He put the note back inside the book and clutched the book to his chest and lay thinking.
He thought back to when he had first met Jody. He had just settled into life at the dg when Jody had arrived and she had made quite an entrance. Kicking, and thrashing around wildly, climbing on furniture, trying in vain to get away from Mike and Gina. She had calmed down eventually and Tracy had made her a jelly bath to make things fun. Tyler and Jody became friends almost instantly. Jody loved watching Tyler's pranks and tricks. He made her laugh, shared biscuits and sweets with her and took her seriously unlike some of the older kids who just saw her as a nuisance. Tyler enjoyed having company of his own age, someone that didn't judge him and was always willing to help with his pranks. He had always felt so comfortable with Jody, he knew she would always support him and back him up, no matter what. As they grew up they had only gotten closer. Tyler had always dreamed of moving back in with his mum but when the opportunity had arisen, he had realised that the DG and Jody were a lot harder to leave than he could have imagined. It had made him realise who his true family were. As much as he loved his mum he had realised that the DG was the best place for him and no one knew him or understood him quite like Jody.
Thinking of his mum had brought tears to his eyes and he rubbed them away. His thoughts turned to his dad. This morning he had been excited to meet him, imagining an emotional reunion and a happy ever after. But he had just been kidding himself, he couldn't believe how stupid he'd been, how he'd created this fairy tale in his head of how happy his dad would be to discover his long lost son.
Eventually Tyler fell asleep still clutching the Peter pan book.
