Chapter 33 - The Plan

Jody stood staring nervously at the three expectant faces. Chloe, Candi-rose and Charlie were sitting on Chloe's bed waiting for an explanation.

You've got to promise that you won't tell Mike and May Li or Tyler

Promise said the three girls in unison

Well, I tracked down Tyler's dad online a few weeks ago. I managed to find out where he worked and we found him, well bumped into him nearby.

What's this got to do with the funfair?

I'm coming to that bit. So we followed Tyler's dad back to his house and when Tyler spoke to him he didn't want to know, he shut the door on him.

Tyler was devastated and it broke my heart to see him like that. So I went back and spoke to his dad and he's agreed to meet Tyler at Clissold Park this afternoon.

And you want us to get him there? Questioned Chloe

So exciting exclaimed Candi rose

Hold on a minute. I don't know about this. You and Tyler should never have contacted his dad in the first place. There's a reason why Mike and may Li and our social workers have to do loads of paperwork and risk assessments and stuff. You don't know anything about his dad. We could be putting Tyler at risk.

But it's Tyler's dad, surely they deserve to meet and talk properly

Maybe Charlies right, maybe it's not such a good idea

Please you got to help. If you tell Mike and may Li it could be months before child services arranges for Tyler to meet his dad. Tyler's lost him mum, and now he feels like he's lost his dad too but he hasn't, this is his best chance to get to know his dad.

One meeting can't hurt surely

I guess so

Fine, but if anything goes wrong or doesn't feel right, I'm calling Mike and May Li straight away warned Charlie

So how are we gonna get him to come with us

There's a magician at the fair. I saw it on the poster. Tyler likes magic tricks, maybe that will get him interested.
